mazda donor, dont know the model or year. it was a 4 door, did not have to remove any seats.
get cables latch and the spring too, dont forget the spring!
you will not need the attachment on the gas door cable so take it off and pitch it. once removed you can pull the cables through the front of the car easier though you may have to remove minimal trim, pull up a little bit of carpet etc. to do so.
this is the attachment you dont need:
latch just unbolts and it is a little tricky to pull out and install. pulled mine out from the front hole where the latch pokes through
get a latch from a car that isnt mounted to the side of the car, but instead mounted on the rail the seat sits on and mount it on the festy. the plate on mine was threaded so i put the bolt plate on the inside of the opening (cut the carpet carefully so the cut is in the right place and not off center. make 1 straight slit.. no box or "I" cuts needed.) run the cables under the carpet then into the body once you get to the back seat. go ahead and run the trunk latch since its easier to do.
back hatch doesnt unlock yet maybe use the latch from the donor?
drill a hole exactly the same size as the plastic piece on the cable so it will be a real snug fit, where the slit is on the latcher (car side) i marked the slit area with a flat head screw driver, then removed the latcher and drilled away.
get the spring piece from the donor car and attach using bottom screw of the latcher. the top screw was too high for the top hole of the spring piece but the top screw should stop it from moving too much any way.
the hardest part was removing and installing all the paneling.
do not remove or mess with the key latch unless you have something on the gas door to catch the festy latcher on the car side. you can leave it operational and the popper will work fine.
the donor spring may need a little adjusting or bending out wards to work properly.
WORD OF CAUTION:
TAKE EXTREME CARE WHEN DRILLING THE HOLE, NEAR THE GAS FILLER NECK. THERE WERE RUBBER HOSES ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR IN THAT AREA. DO NOT ALLOW THE METAL TO GET HOT, START SMOKING, OR SPARKING, AS MINE DID. VERY DANGEROUS!! BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE HOSES WHEN THE DRILL GOES THROUGH!!!!!Last edited by MTec007; 03-24-2010, 09:53 PM.

tib popper
I got the Tiburon popper to install. It installs from inside and has an emergency pull loop if there ever is a problem opening.
I am searching for a gas filler door without a key hole.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-18-2010, 01:50 PM.

Accent
It looks like a Hyundai Accent fuel filler door may be the closest thing. The dimensions are almost identical to the Festiva. It is about one eighth of an inch longer in both directions It also has a popper similar to the Tib. It will need an L bracket though. It appears to come in a fiberglass and a steel version. I will pick one up this Saturday along with a ton of stuff (all you can carry day for $49.95 admission price).

Around here you must be actually able to carry it on your person 10ft. They outlawed carrying trans & engines due to injury concerns. 2x admission for trans & 3x admission for engines. Still good deals especially on small stuff like wiring trim piecesIt's a good thing you don't read the stickies, you might of learned something.Poverty produces creativity

electric
Is there enough room to install an electric popper? I bought a switch anyway because it was on sale today. I will check out the Millenia actuators at the yard next time I visit. It's too expensive on the Bay.
