I fold mine in when the garage is a little cramped. That way I can open up the door on my Mom's car. If I remember correctly, the power mirrors on my '89 LX would fold in but they would spring out. Gotta love Swoopies.

They only came on '90 LX but you can find them on some Mazda Protege, the Protege ones just require a little modding of the mounting holes.

I don't see how these mirrors would help so much with a tight garage, because the cars are SOOO small already!

How would you know if they can go all the way back? I have some they spring a little but never tried pushing them back like that, afraid to break them.

Also is there really a button to make them spring back to normal? Where would that be?

Sorry I got some from a junkyard but dont really know how to tell if they are "swoopies"

#1 they fold in so they dont get hit and broke off (and space too, i guess)

#2 no button just spring back out for reason #1

#3 swoopies, i guess, are just factory festiva mirrors

I think pre '90 power mirrors don't stay folded in, just the '90 LX swoopies stay folded in. If they look like the mirrors in Fresh's post then they are "swoopies". And there is no button to make them fold back out, you just swing them back out by hand.

Wait til the days just bleed together Marcus. Thats real fun. I just came off of working between days and nights with a day in between to adjust. Had been doing it since January. That was lots of fun.

I think Kemp actually got a pair from over seas that have a power fold option.....but I could be remembering wrong what actually made them different.

I could be wrong but the ones posted look more rounded, mine are squared off a little more. Could just be the paint on it.

So all power mirrors fold back? Just swoopies can stay collapsed?
