I should have gotten the year of the Mazda MX6 I took it out of
Its from an 88'-'92 MX6 (also, the 626 one *looks* the same but might not be exactly).

Look for one from an MX6 LX, both my LX's had one similar to that, but with an armrest on top that opened up to a fairly large storage box underneath. No guarantee that it would fit, but if the tray one fits I don't see why the box one wouldn't. If the MX6 I currently drive had the armrest console I'd go test fit in on the parts car, but it doesn't
I made a hinged one that bolted to the back of the factory festy console out of 2x4s, a door hinge, some thick foam padding and an old pair of jeans once
Thats what I tried first, but the weird shape of the ashtray combined with my laziness put and end to that lol. But with it hinged I could at least flip it up out of the way if I wanted to.
I've thought about making an armrest that simply fits into the rear cigarette holder slot that you could remove when you felt like it.

I have a leather center armrest pad from a '91 Explorer. It has an exposed plastic bottom. I also have an extra ash tray from a Festiva. My plan is to attach the spare ash tray insert to the bottom of the armrest via Epoxy, rivets or whatever I can figure out. Then, I can simply insert the armrest or remove it. May even be able to bolt the armrest to the ash tray lid. Then I could use the hinge built in to the ash tray. It will be a good "Red Green" project for the first snow day. I need to get the B6 installed first!
How about adapting this Honda Fit armrest? It looks as though the lower section could fit down inside the Festiva ash tray if you turned it around 180 degrees. Or just fabricate a tower that goes straight down into the ashtray.
Shipping from Hong Kong is a killer.
