  • HOW TO: Change Odometer Mileage on White Face Gauge Cluster!

I did a write up on the process I went thru to change the odometer on my new Speedometer / Tach cluster to match my stock Speedometer only cluster.

This procedure is not intended to be used for any illegal purpose and is for reference only.

Good luck and I hope this helps someone out there!

Good write up! I always wondered what it would take to do this in my car, i swapped out my orange cluster for white, wish i could have done this right when i swapped it...

Thanks Devon. I read a lot of write ups regarding it..... but pictures are worth 1000 words

It was actually quite easy. Read one write up where he used a drill to get his odometer where he needed. The brown gear would not fit into my 1/2" chuck drill not to mention it would have taken a lot longer and you run the risk of gouging the gear.

Probably took me less than 30 minutes.

may need to do that when I find another Tach cluster (had a 2nd one and sold it) so I can put it in my mom's Festiva... the odometer in her car was making a horrible screaching noise and the speedo kept jumping within 5MPH or where it was actually supposed to be when I was driving it yesterday

Not to get this thread off topic, but it sounds like the cable just needs lubed up.

probably so but my personal Festiva has a Tach in it and I wanna put one in her's too but do like Phil did and keep the mileage the same... I tend to drive hers when I'm in between fixing my car (routine maintenance) and payday (when I can get a job together) I've got a job interview tomorrow (I'll be driving her car as my registration's bad till I can get a paycheck or two)

                You're welcome.

Glad to see some pictures of the process though.

that's a bit more involved than my procedure, i don't remove the speedo unit from the face OR remove the number scroll from the speedo unit. just takes some finesse with a fine pick set.

I don't see how you could physically alter the odometer without taking it out..... how did you do it? Interested to see

Just to give credit where credit is really due, I had instruction from SimonTuffGuy & Nickb1907. They both provided me with a lot of valuable insight and procedures on how to do the odometer modification.

I just wanted to document the process with pictures

                        Thanks guys!
