Although if I leave it hooked up, there is more power to work with. 3 batteries is better than 2

You still might not want to discharge a starting battery that much. I guess you could leave it in but have it switched to keep it in or take it out of the circuit. You could leave it charged that way in case you needed it in an emergency.

Yeah I was thinking that too...... Would hate to be 20kms away from home and have 3 dead batteries and NO alternator, LOL!

It probably wouldn't make too much difference rolling down the highway long distance, but around town, the added weight of the batteries will be noticeable if you do a lot of stop and go.

Well other than this alternator delete, is there any other good ideas out there that are easy and cheap?

Also, I need some advise for the boat tail type thing that I want to make. I could make a frame out of "something" and wrap it in "something else". But I need to be able to see out the back still..............

I have heard about Lexan......Does anyone know if this can be shaped?

You can shape it by heating it up with a torch. Basically you just clamp one end to something and apply the heat to where the bend is going to be, and slowly apply force to see if its ready to bend. Just be careful not to heat it up to much.

This thread got me thinking about an idea for a high mileage car. put a b3 in a light more aerodynamic car. I have an 85 rx7 and extra b3's laying around. I found some pics of my old dd rx7. Makes me sad I sold it, I liked that car.

Looks like it would be easy to make it more aeroficient. I dont know what to do about gearing though since its set up for a rotary with a higher power band. Maybe get a miata trans and see how the rear suits it.

I should just throw my vw turbodiesel engine into one of these instead of the stiva?

                    Mileage

I am told that my Festiva averaged 80 mpg for most of its life. From what I understand it was 40 on its own power and infinite when towed by the previous owner's motorhome.

Maybe an extended suction cup on the front bumper and a close draft behind another car? Just thinking.

Is Lexan expensive? Can you just get it at Home Depot or ???

Lexan is expensive, Plexiglass less so and it's more pliable and then there's the cheap modlers clear plastic. you should be able to get the first two at Lowes.

Lowes? I assume that is a USA thing? We have Home Depot, Rona, and a couple others that suck..... Is Lowes pretty good?

                            Can I shape regular plexi?

So could I just heat it up slowly with a propane torch, and slowly bend it to the right shape? This is going to be cool when it is done!
