88 tach cluster?

I am trying to get my tach cluster working on my 88.. I have tried hooking up a wire to the back of the cluster from another thread but after trying all combinations I had no luck. It looks to me like the back of the tach there are 3 connections one power one ground and one signal input. I'm blessed with a car that that isn't wired for the tach so any help would be great. I have an aftermarket tach installed on the dash so I know my signal wire is good. But what I'm thinking is maybe the plugs in my dash may not have a power supply for the tach? Or a ground for that matter so should I manually wire in the dash tach like I did my after market 12v, ground, signal.

On the back of the cluster, if you trace the tach pins you should find a screw along the strip from the pin. If the screw is missing, put one in. I am not sure why, but I have heard about this happening and the missing screw was the culprit.

Yeah I tried this without any luck. I traced where the wire should be and nothing happened so is there power to the tach will it hurt it to put 12v to one side and signal if I run my own wires. All the screws are there.
