Easiest is to get a JY speedo from another Mazda; late 80s - early 90s. I'm presently using a 140-MPH 1992 Protege speedo.
90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

I went with speed hut gages with the speedo driven by GPS. Cool but not cheap

              Look it up , speedhut.com

Heres mines , not GPS though , but it takes any signal from the VSS or anything that comes out the tranny. Once you hook it up , you travel 2 miles exactly (highway markers) and you press the button to set it. Then it know that Ex: 2543 signal counts = 2 miles.

Expect 550-700$ for a full kit. I think its 140+ for a speedo.

Should be simple hot and ground , your trigger or what ever the correct term is would be the yellow wire with green strip connected to the coil just above the left strut tower !
Have not done an aftermarket yet but I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong !
Being so I answered your direct ?
New build on the way .

So, hooking up a Electronic speedometer is possible?!? Even with the Transmissions having the gear?!? That is way to cool.

                        custom gauges question?

Unless you have cruise control, there is no electronic speed sensor on a stock transmission.

                          Re: custom gauges question?

I remember seeing a gear to electric adaptor. Been a while though. My jeep had gear driven electric signal, so it can be done.

It can be done. I haven't found a source for the sensor, but it might be compatible with Escort/Capri/Protege/323 speedo cable sensors. I'd be interested because it'd be fun to build an MPGuino.

                              Napa sells the sensor.
