      The extra lens might diffuse the narrow angle of light from the LEDs and make it appear dimmer.

        LED lights are great, tough, and efficient, produce little heat but these
        particular lights really don't have the horsepower to be dispersed like other lights.
        I installed a 2 prong electronic flasher in place of the 3 prong. Works better
        with the bigger tandem axle trailers too.

          Here's the option I went for.. no new parts needed, and goes right into the old socket.



          They (Princess Auto up here in Alberta) also have an 1156 bulb (amber) for the front. The only problem is there's not enough resistance on the bulb so the flasher starts flashing things at double speed as compared to the old bulbs..

            Thats why the two prong electronic flasher and wire it in deleting
            the extra terminal.

              should have used white zip ties instead of black...but other then that I think they look good. I would try mounting them in the regular housing with clear lenses though.

                They self adhesive real good, but my buddy kept trying to figure
                out how I did it ( picking at it ) till the 2 sided tape was no good.
                I had black on hand..
                I will replace the two sided stuff and remove the zip ties after
                the novelty wears off!

                The location is bad for my use in the woods for stock type lenses
                these are a lot tougher than stock. Actually it was my boat trailer
                that broke the final glass lens..in my own drive around!!

                  I'd like to try this with three LED strips in one of the following combos:

                  -bright white LEDs with yellow stock lens cover
                  -bright yellow LEDs with clear lens cover

                  I'd also like to try and do the "dual blinkers" mod that connects the corner light to blink when the bumper light is off.

                  My "running light goal" would be to create extra bright brake lights, markers and blinkers while still reducing electric draw.

                  Another goal would be to have LED DRLs to run instead of driving with my stock headlights on like I do now. They wouldn't have to be quite as bright and they wouldn't have to have an effective night beam, but they'd again save electricity.

                  At some point I'd also like to go to HID headlights but I want to wait till there's more info on proper installation and safety. So I'm happy to let others be my guinea pigs.

                    Karl, the HID lights are extremely easy to install. They consist of a female end to the male connector you have (9004), a ballast (which is best mounted to the sidewall of the engine bay), and a bulb that mounts in the stock bulb's location, in that order, without external assistance from the battery. Some kits give you a "hi-lo" option with a servo that moves the bulb in and out of the bulb hole to increase or decrease the light output of the lenses. I've seen a few different cars (Aspire and Festiva) with them, and I like what it does! The biggest thing that you'll notice once you install them is that your viewing distance isn't really much farther than it was when you had the original bulbs in. The light is sharper, and far brighter, but the general downfall is the prismatic lenses. You may often have drivers flashing at you. A good solution to this is to buy a set of driving lights that work with your high beams that have the projector lenses in them, and mount your HID's in those. For everyday driving, I suggest PlasmaGlow bulbs ($29 shipped, 10-yr NQA warranty). I've used them in my cars, and Bebandit now has a set in his car. They're Xenon, non-HID, and are brighter by a small percentage, but noticeably whiter. Those in combination with the driving lights should make your night time driving experience a whole lot better.
