Ok so I'm in the process of building a trailer hitch and small flat bed trailer for use behind my festivas. The car I'm gonna be pulling with is my 91 gl with a cammed b6 swap with stock suspension. My question is what is the weight/ tongue weight of the trailers that you guys are pulling behind your festys? I'm just going to use the trailer for junk yard runs and trips and such nothing too heavy. I'm using a stock festiva beam for the axle so that I can use the same spare for the trailer as the car. Any thoughts or suggestions?

My half Festiva trailer is about 70lbs tongue weight empty, I pulled it loaded down with about 500lbs of crap in the trailer. Other than the obvious load it did ok on the highway with a camed b6 in mine.Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

B3..I don't go over 2000lb trailer weight and keep my tongue weight
between 50 and a 100 lbs. Bulky loads should be centered so that
side wind gusts will push on your axle and not the hitch of your car.
Do not over drive your stopping power.
Do not go climb steeper than 6% grade on gravel
Use a 2 wire electronic flasher and a converter
for trailer lights. That is the short list for happy towing!
You could rig surge brakes on that trailer!Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

I'm hoping/assuming you have an Aspire brake swap? I wouldn't even consider towing anything more than about 500 lbs without the better brakes.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Not a pic of the rig in action (I didn't take any) but a scan of the weight ticket.
Hopefully this is visible.Last edited by lessersivad; 02-29-2012, 04:02 AM.
