  • Cup Holder Mod

So...I know im not the only one who likes to have a drink in the car. If you know what i mean.....

    Soda, or Water, or...Gatorade.

    Heres what i started with.

I had a Cubby under the dash like some of you have. I wanted to be able to use the cubby as a cubby and also as a drink holder.

Then since i hated the way it looked i decided to go with Cup Holder MK2

This design was much simpler. Also it only involved drilling 2 10-32 clearance holes in the top of my cubby that no one will ever see. Even if they took it out they are so small it wouldn't matter.

You can see the overall completed assembly here

    Heres 1st gear

    Heres 3rd gear

    Heres 5th Gear

    Also 4th for comparison.

You can still use the cubby as a cubby if you want.

Heres a Gatorade in either slot. Drivers side or Passenger side.

If you guys are interested ill post up a drawing so you can make it on your own.

Mines made out of PVC plastic sheet, I needed to heat it to bend the 15deg angle. Then fabricate the metal Brackets to hold the drink.

Its very Sturdy and i feel happy with the overall product. Not sure if ill paint it yet tho. I don't know if its worth it.

Nice work man! Good choice on the classic Orange Gatorade too. The best!

Cupholders look real good though. I wonder if there would be a way to build it so you can remove it when you don't need it.

That was the original idea. But then its like. I can still use it as a cubby. Also where would you put the cup holder section if you werent using it. I thought of making it a flip up. But i thought the overall design would be stupid looking.

Here's what I'm using in mine. It's a perfect fit in the radio bay. Although then you have to find a spot to relocate the radio to LOL

These are crazy expensive on Ebay but you should be able to find them in the JY.

I have one of those lol I thought I would be able to easily put it in the little cubby. But nope. I don't want to cut the cubby up.

I have an expensive radio so I don't want to risk having my drinks anywhere above it.
