You need 4 of the ball studs if you are installing 2 struts. Looks like you only ordered 1 pack of 2.
(Don't forget that you can get those from early 2000's Ford Explorers in the PnP).

That does like a winning deal

I found Lincoln Aviator, Expeditions, Explorers, quite a few at the yard here had the ball studs. I took a tape measure and found the struts. An early 2000's Nissan Maxima has the proper length, one holds it up good.

        Great free mod

I got four free ball studs from two different Expeditions I found in the junkyard and mated them to these lifts (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1). They work great. They don't have the lifting power that yours do in the video put it's so much more convenient and it was too easy. I guess the Expedition bolts are a bit longer than the Explorers, so there is a little gap with the hood closed. I'll try and get some from an Explorer next time I'm in the Pull-A-Part.

The short ones work much better... Look for them on the inside wall... I've found that the ones on top where the fender bolts are all long neck ones.

Hmm. Turns out Amazon didn't let me apply the gift card to the order. It said it did, but it didn't. So watch that. Might be because it wasn't Amazon selling the items. Dirty, but that's how it goes. Sorry for the misinformation.

That's a shame not being able to apply the card,..... Have your hood struts arrived?

Today I picked up 8 more of the short balls studs while I was at LKQ. 2 from a 2004 Explorer, 4 from two 2002 Explorers and 2 from a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer.

I don't have them yet. The company that sells them on Amazon took a week to ship them, and amusingly they didn't ship them till literally minutes after I found out that they weren't free and requested a cancellation. Of course they also ignored my request. That's OK. Amazon allows feedback.

So overall, just don't buy from that company.

                      This is funny.

So it's a week and they haven't shipped the parts. I notice I don't really want them now, so I email them to request a cancellation. Less than an hour later I get an email notification saying the parts have shipped. Then the next day they "find the time" to respond to my cancellation request. They are very sorry of course, but my request wasn't received in time (OH NO! :tm, and the package has already gone out. Right. But I can still pay to ship it back to them for a refund. No trouble there.

The specific times are off by 12 hours, but the time between them is right. I just wonder why businesses pull this kind of crap on their customers. They've lost me for good, and anyone that asks me about them. For $30? Just stupid.

Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I see that Rockauto has the 15 inch hood struts that will work on the Festiva hood.
With the discount code I can get 2 shipped for about $25.
These will really make your hood pop up.
Get them and 4 studs from 2 Early 2000's Ford Explorers and you are set.

I just ordered a pair of these for Rosie. 30lbs is plenty of lift to keep the hood up.
At $19.95 a pair they look like a good deal. I will post again when they arrive and let you know how they work.

Do you mean to tell us that there are other members out there who have no knowledge about this mod? Getting rid of the prop rod is one of the coolest mods ever. Besides, it freed up a place for me to screw in my cruise vacuum ball and ignition ballast resistor.

Just added these to Rosie a few minutes ago.
They arrived in 3 days via USPS First Class Package, they fit perfectly and hold the hood up with plenty of force.
At $19.95 a pair shipped, I would recommend these to anyone who is considering this mod.

Also remember that you need 4 of the ball studs which you can pick up at the JY.
Just find two 2001 - 2003 Ford Explorers and remove the ball studs that are on the sides (not on the hood).
They need to have 6mm threads and must be the short ones. A 13mm socket or crescent will do the job.
And you really can do it it less than 15 minutes.
So for anyone who hasn't heard about this.. you have heard it now.
