Yeah, I don't care for the stock seats even half $$ that much, but they do look nice.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

JY seats are an option for most people, but when buying JY seats you are stuck with factory colors which might match and might not match your interior. After putting over 300,000 miles on stock Fetiva seats inc several over 600 mile trips, I just had the good seats I had recovered to match my car. Its not the way most people would go , I know, but after spending over 2 yrs building this car, JY seats were not an option to me.

Prelude seats were not that hard to install, just need some steel from Lowes or Home Depot (Look like long unmarked rulers), nut & bolts, a hacksaw, and a drill with a big enough drill bit for the bolts.

Just pull them from a 92'-96' Prelude.

I got my pair of seats from a Junkyard for $50, that was including taxes and the environmental fee.

its worth the money to do the stock seats to me b/c i always like the interior better when the seats match (front & rear) looks so much better than mismatched seats. jmo unless you have a car & are running recaros or brides & the back seat is delete

haha, I should have rephrased that...I didn't mean to offend. No doubt reupholstering stock seats is worth the money if you want a nice seat that bolts in and looks good. After reupholstering they don't really match anyway, same deal with JY seats, but it's nothing a set of cheap seat covers can't fix! My current festy has 250k+ miles, dented and beat a little, just not worth $400 seats.

No offense taken. I just wanted my seats to match my new interior, and new paint and I could't get that without doing custom seats. I was simply telling Vinny about other options.

Just a can of Krylon Fusion.

Just mask it up a little better than I did around the cloth, some of the edges soaked up some black paint.

Also it took a loooooong for mine to dry since it was cold at the time, so all the dust in the air stuck to it, like it took almost a week till it wasn't tacky anymore.
Thinking of repainting the map pockets black, the white was alright, but a bit too over the top, plus everyone who kicks those map pockets. (Which is almost everyone who gets in and out.) Will leave shoe marks on them. Need different speaker covers on the doors as well, those Boss ones just look a bit stupid with all the sharp edges.

I honestly would rather have good comfy seats that really hold ya that are mismatched with the rear, then uncomfortable stock seats (even if professionally reupholstered) with rails that always seem to go bad. My prelude seat upgrade has to be the best upgrade I have done to the car since I installed power locks.

Of course everyone has their opinions, but this is how I see it. It's a Festiva, not a Ferrari.

Torque. I agree with you about the comfy seats, but not the mismatch. I just didn't want to be bothered fitting leather seats in the back, even though I know that I could. I like it completely empty for golf clubs, etc.
Yes, everyone kicks the map pockets. That is why I removed mine. They will never go back on. Some day in the distant future, I may scrape up enough money to make a couple of 1/8" thick carbon fiber door panels. I hate painting.

Evaluating seat comfort only works for the one using the seats. My preferences flip flopped after back surgery.

trouble maker lol its good jerry b/c it shows how others think comfort or looks. i weigh 250 & have never had a problem with the comfort of stock festy seats. but your new seats & the matching panels to me look awesome & if i had a choice & the $ i would go the same route you did. thats what makes the forum popular everyone having their own opinion on mods done to different cars. imo

I used to weight 365 and the stock seats were fine.
