What do you think ballpark would be? To add all this to a factory us dash you have to cut her up anyway but once inside everything fits together id assume.

    >>53 AU for the piece that connects to ducting, any word on its door and the hinge hardware? Regardless this is really interesting, now that you can find this all interior things fall into place on how to search them down

that site and diagram is a neat find jaw. it looks like the bin gets first dibs on the air coming through the evap. now that you can see all the pieces, I won't have to disassemble mine. any response from the partsfan inquiry? trouble with adding this to a car without it is needing to buy a few pieces of plenum also to attach to the box.

Could we possibly start a feeler for coolbox vent and lid cloning F3BZ? Pllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaassss ssssssssseeee? with a cherry on top.

All that i know that would need to be cloned would be the the vent itself and the lid. i think there may also be a lip that the vent sits up against in the dashboard itself.

i know i am very interested in a copy of it. as long as the worknamship is good and sturdy, i'd be up for one. i'll have a black with festiva red if that's an option.

Well it is upto F3BZ but i can see this item being quite popular and would sell quite easily..

                Paging F3BZ..

Would you like to be the person who made legendary status by allowing your centre duct and lid assemblies to be cloned? if you do decide to do it as well, would you be gracious enough to take some pics of the centre duct for prosperity sakes as not many of us have a picture of the workings of the dash cooler.. would also be really cool to see that too.

Totally upto you and no pressure.. but i can say for one i'd be a YAY definitely on this item if it were available for purchase..

Also, open to anyone that happens to have one of these items too.

ok, i will put an unofficial interest "YAY" or "NAY" here..

                YAY for me.

nag. nag. nag. this task is only now on the very faint edges of my radar screen of things to do. not saying I won't but it ain't gonna be tomorrow. here's the scenario: I have to make a 5 mile (10 round) to a storage garage with no electric or heat, arrange for a couple of people to move their cars so that I can back mine out just to start the never fun work of disconnecting and disassembling the bits and pieces to pull the dash from a perfectly preserved and running car more than likely rendering it inoperable for a while, at least long enough to give my old back a chance to recover from the contortions needed for the effort only to re-live the experience putting it back together. I know, whine, whine, whine. but that is only the start of what may prove to be a fruitless search for anyone reliable and competent to be able to actually duplicate the required pieces to be sold to the few members willing to translate their dreams and wishes into actual hard cash that won't add meaningfully to my bottom line anyway. do you want the rear underseat heater ducts molded also? might as well go all the way.

I detect bitterness?? I mean nothing negative in any of this thread. Many of us "wish outloud", or type what we are thinking out in the open. So its said you have ability and skill and the actual piece none of us have, I wasnt asking for any favors if they go past simple favors. If you have no immediate reason to go down to your storage area then simply don't. Thank you for honesty. I have things to sell 5 feet of me where i sit now and i havent snapped pics and put them up, I am much much worse. Now if the lid comes off w/o the dash being pulled forward or you crawling under there then ill whine like a puppy but i will move on, i promise. I meant what i said in good fun just that in good fun. Wish i had picked up more hands on fabbing skills along the way. I'm still inclined to do a hackjob improvisational storage box or something to this dash anyway, its cracked faded and the wrong color etc. If a drill bit or stone grinder wanders on me on this car i laugh...

bitterness? no. a little sour maybe but mostly sarcasm. the dash would have to be pulled to get at the box and ducting. my apprehension is that I will spend a lot of time trying to find someone to duplicate the lid which incorporates a spring loaded latch only to find the cost too high and/or a requirement for a minimum order in excess of the number of members serious about this mod. seems easier and cheaper to me to buy the OEM lids that jaw said he found and mount something like a plastic electrical "gang box" under the dash and adapted to receive the in/out ducting from the A/C system that could be fabbed from flexible exhaust manifold heat tube. the only real challenge then would be attaching the lid hinge to the box somehow.

A heatlthy gasket seal all around, magnet on the lid, flat metal as your latch. Think cheap chinese knockoff purse

My understanding of the place i came across was less that promising.. according to a source, they mentioned that they actually had bad luck in obtaining parts from the same group i did and have decided to abandon that avenue of research as i have come across others but am still a little skeptical as i keep hearing the words "out of production" which does dampen my spirit, but not too much in the fact that if i do come across a place that does supply them (and as long as they have Paypal) i'd be more than happy to purchase from them.

i understand that they didn't have paypal and only used a bank account so basically no security there whatsoever.

let me keep hacking at it.. something usually turns up.

hrrrm so far nothing.. except finding a 3d scanning and printing place that will do a bulk quantity would help our cause.

i know jay leno has the facilities and could print them up in plastic (ABS i think is what would be needed.) ... long shot i know, but it's a shot none the less. even offer him one as a token of appreciation and he could mod that shogun of his.

anyone know an email for him to see if we can at least inquire about it??

looks to be the good we need to have this done.

Godspeed.. and just remember, i'm not expecting this next week or anything.. in your own time.
