Looks good! I have accumulated the materials to fab 2 for my cars. I've only lacked motivation and a break from the summer heat in my shop to get on it. Hope mine turn out as nice.

Sure I didn't take any pictures during. Was too busy hiding from my wife and sweating. 100 degree days here. I'll write up my steps a little later. It was kind of discovery in progress. 0 plan

                1. Trace opening in place on cardboard.
                - Two pieces with a gap for hinge effect.

                2. Trimmed to fit in the grooves.
                - check for fit, trim as needed.
                - start over because you trimmed too much

                3. Use template to mark the board for cutting.
                - I just used what i could find in the garage. I had a sheet of hard board.

                4. Cut out form with a chisel.
                - Because I had one and nothing better to cut with.
                - start over because you cut too much.

                5. Set in place and duct tape two pieces together.

                6. Remove and wrap entire thing in duct tape.
                - test by leaving it in the sun for a couple hours. Return to find what looks like a tape taco.
                - start over.

                7. Add metal rods (curtain rods) for support.
                - drill pilot holes from top, attach rods to bottom.

                8. Cover with blanket that happens to match interior.
                - fasten to bottom side with staple gun.
                - realize staple gun is broken.
                - use thumbtacks instead
                - realize thumb tacks are too long
                - clean up blood

                9. ?????

                10. Profit.

                  Great write up.

I would like to add to step #7 ....... break drill bit off. Slice finger while removing broken drill bit. No band aids in the house so use duct tape from step #6 to wrap finger.

That's too funny. I did in fact break a drill bit trying to drill the pilot holes, but didn't bleed on that one.
