l just recently got the mazda part # for this insert and sent in an inquiry for availability. I have a little more hope than usual since the # is for the 323 series and might be still in Japanese warehouses.

in that pic I think it is just a blank off plate like this. sort of the ultimate radio delete. not even a storage cubby. I never understood why you'd want a flat plate instead of the storage bin. I know some of the overseas markets put audio components in the center console.

Looks like a cassette going into it...like it's a player...

Also I saw the Torte earlier and almost said something!

If that armrest is resting in the ashtray and on top of the e-brake console, then there won't be enough room to pull the e-brake (especially in San Fransisco). I completely disassembled my Kamei center armrest. I have to buy a three foot piece of 1/2" O.D. X .060" wall tube. I am going to weld two pieces of 9/16" I.D. tube to the rear inner Festiva seat supports. I want the support bar to be firmly placed. I will cut the welds in the existing hinge and reweld the new support bar to it. At least it can be flipped up out of the way if necessary.

It is. Translation of the first line of text under the pic is "cassette box". Apparently it replaces the radio, for someone who just wants to listen to cassette tapes. Holds four tapes.

He said it would be more complicated than I thought but did not give me a dollar estimate yet. He wants me to send him an ashtray to see what kind of size he'd have to work with. (sorry for the slow reply. Been on vacation and had not checked FF.com until just now.....)

If F3BZ can find them, it would be cheaper that way. Let's see what he finds out.

no luck on any old stock ashtray inserts. the mazda part# is B467 V O 730R if anybody has a source. i tried the O in the # as a zero and also as the letter O. any suggestions what kind of business i'd look for who might be able to reproduce it from my existing tray?
