the only real caveat I see with this is that Festiva owners are intrinsically cheap, and most would not want to spend that much money.Jim DeAngelis

HOLY CRAP. Didn't look into those prices before-hand... I didn't realize how expensive the Brembo kits are... 2-3K??! That's insane! Good grief... It would be better if they would just sell the calipers and not charge so darn much... good grief...Redlands, CA

That's why I always look to OEM options first. Usually well engineered, can be plentiful in wrecking yards, and replacement/repair doesn't require a speciallized source.Jim DeAngelis

brakes
^^^Correct, you can really screw up the bias if you have the brakes mismatched.
FWIW unless you are really into having that Brembo logo on the side of your brakes Jim is right, your best bet is to look to the OEM, I'd look to perhaps the FD rx7 or something similar for a light weight 4 piston.
Brembos would be really overkill on pretty much all the festivas out there, including ones making decent power. As light as the festiva is, all the braking you really need is the Aspire brakes with good pads. Considering that the Aspire brake swap is equivilent to what you get on most of the "Big Brake kits" out there. Look at the level of upgrade with the Aspire brakes, you are getting a rotor that not only is an inch larger with a much greater swept area but also they are floating and ventilated!
Same with the calipers, much greater swept area, the only bad thing is they are only one piston and are heavy. The rear drums are an inch larger too, but since most of the braking is done with the front brakes it doesn't matter as much.
Or maybe EGT brakes, you would have to go out of your way to tax a set of brakes on a festiva.

I believe the Aspire brakes essentially gives a Festiva an "Escort sized" braking system. Also, compare rear drums with a Neon. We're talking 2200-2400 pound cars here.
