Rolling on 13s

I found that STS Tire will sell 12" tires for the Festiva. For those who are not North Easterners, STS is a pretty major chain of tire and auto supplies. They do service also, kind of a Firestone dealer but they sell parts/cleaning supplies also.


I requested a quote via email (ststirequote@ststire.com), and I was told

"The 145sr12 are not available. the Runway 155/80r12 is similar for $40 each plus installation. Special order but delivery in short time."

I'm going to order them and pick them up at the store, no delivery charge.

The last 12s I picked up were $23.00 each 3 years ago.

Since I posted the other day, I did manage to stumble on what was most likely the LAST 12" tire for retail sale in the Dallas area at a Discount Tire store. I'm gonna try to find some 13" rims this weekend, and store the 12" rims/tires for a "rainy day".

I paid about $26 a piece at the start of '07, but this tire I bought yesterday was about $40...I guess when they're rare the stores can jack the price up a bit.
