  • aspire knuckles with escort/protoge calipers and rotors

I am kinda of confused of what is on here. If i use an aspire knuckle with hub, can i mount the escort front caliper and rotor on the front to acheive even bigger brakes than the aspires? Has anyone actually done this and is it worth it

People have done it, you have to use 14" wheels though. No 13" wheels can clear protege/escort calipers. I have a set a protege calipers that need to be rebuilt in the back of my truck.

so its the same bolt pattern, i can use the same master and booster. It just gives me bigger rotors and calipers.

Yes you can use a stock festiva booster/MC. The caliper will bolt right on the aspire spindle.

i believe the caliper bore is the same and it might even use the same/similar brake pad, but the rotor i bigger in diameter giving more leverage on the hub, hence greater braking power. so that being said, yes you can use the same master cylinder

Is there a write up on the escort swap? Because I want the biggest brakes possible, I'm using a 16x7 wheel, with a 195/40/16 tire.

i have the escort gt calipers on my festiva and they are awesome. and you can fit 13" rims over them... i found some 13" ALUMINUM rims that fit over them, i think the aluminum rims have a bigger center bore to them, compaired to the steel wheels. i took mine off of a 93 escort gt. i THINK the number on the top should say "22V"...

I just got some calipers from a 93 tracer lts and they don't fit. The caliper bottoms out on the rotor before I can get the bolts lined up.

I just checked and rockauto lists the same 14" calipers for the tracer LTS, Escort GT, and protege LX/DX. Is there a difference in the aspire spindles?
