    He did it before and had the springs break. He said just as bad as heating them.

      Cutting springs actually INCREASES the spring rate, like a shorter torsion bar. As long as you dont overheat them while cutting them- I would use a cut off wheel instead of a torch.

          Well he's a old timer so he says it's right and not to do it just get shorter springs.
          And lets not bash my dad guys he's been a technician for over 27 years and i trust his word.

            Getting shorter springs is the way to go. But cutting the springs and heating them up do very different things to the steel's molecular structure. Do a little research so that you can impress your dad
