  • disk brake info?

hey i found a guy that may be able to make me caliper spacer to bring the caliper up higher to fit a bigger disk!!!!!!!! before i get him to make these things i got to find a disk that will work.... so im looking for some info on the aspire and escort GT disks, like offset and thickness, then if anyone knows of some disks that would work (have the right offset and thickness) anything about 11 inches across would be cool if im gonna get some "big breaks" im gonna get some BIG breaks

These GVR4 rotors are 4x114 and 276mm. For anyone who is Aspired, the Mirage community offers two options. First, you can redrill the rotors. Second, when we (Miragers) upgrade to twin-piston Mitsubishi brakes (EclipseGSX/LancerEvo/3KGTSL), using 275mm 1G Mini Cooper S rotors in lieu of the GVR4 ones works great, and these are 4x100 with an appropriate width.

That works out to roughly 10.8" rotors on both counts. Should be enough for your needs, Mike... considering the fact that the heavy Mitsubishi 3000GT SL and sporty Lancer Evolution 1-3 came with this 276mm rotor size up front. Those cars are more than 2.5x a Festiva in terms of weight. With the correct calipers and alignment, you can easily sneak these puppies under a set of 15" wheels.

Let me know if you want any more info/insight on the Mitsubishi stuff.

that sounds like it may work... and i just had another idea... i think im gonna try to use some rx7 break calipers... they look sweet, say MAZDA on them and they are twin piston so they have great clamping force

                    ^ will do

for those who dont know what they look like...
these are off the 1st gen rx7 (maby 2nd.... cant remember lol...)

and i just found these on google... i think they are 3rd gen one (fd3s) 4 piston i think im gonna try to get these.... if i do then i dont have to mess with the "sliding pipes" that let the caliper move side to side as the pads where out... i just have to center it over the disk....

ooo and these are cast aluminum not cast iron its all about the power to weight

I don't recall my 1st gen RX-7, a '79, having dual piston calipers. Also if there is a piston on both sides, wouldn't there have to be a brake line fitting on both sides?

I think 24X (?) series Volvos having four piston brakes and a safe dual system. Anybody recall?

The first ones are 2nd. Gen RX7 calipers. Any of them will work but using the 2nd. Gen will be more practical because of availability. The 3rd. Gen RX7 calipers are hard to find and lots of mula. Just my .2
There is replacement for displacement! Less weight and BOOST!!!
