  • Aspire brake swap complete....but camber is bad.

The aspire brake swap is completed.
    Brakes are bled......E-brake is adjusted.

But it is obvious from the front of the car that the camber is way off.

The bottom of the tire is about a inch in compared to the top of the tire.
Its the same on both sides....in at the bottom...out at the top.

I used the festy control arms and sway bar.
What was replaced was the struts and hubs.

Is this because the struts are new and haven't settled yet ?
Did I install something wrong ?

Its supposed to go in for a front end alignment.....but this looks like a different issue.

    any help is appreciated.

    aspire hubs

Did you use the complete aspire hubs? The control rod wouldn't make a difference, bolt something to the wrong thing? Check all your bolts make sure they match side to side.

I used aspire springs with the KYB GR2 struts.

I know my tie rods are way off,,, but thats "toe in" not this camber issue.

      Everything looks correct....bolts are correct.

      Puzzling.

just had a friend come over.

        Fresh eyes.

Based on posts in the forums and what we are looking at, I think I need to take one course off the aspire springs.

I think the springs are to long and thats whats throwing the camber off.

have you rolled the car out of the garage yet? McP struts sit weird after the front has been up on jacks, but even out after you move the car.

Did you tighten the bolts for the lower control arms while it was in the air? Your supposed to do the final tightening with the car on the ground. Even after doing everything right with my swap. I still needed a set of camber bolts. I am running the stock Aspire struts and springs all around for now

Ok....cut one coil and re-installed everything.
It does sit much better....but there still is a bit of camber that needs adjusted out.

So at the alignment shop on monday I figure it will get sorted.

PuaLehr.....I tightened everything up with the car on the jacks....maybe a final torque-ing after couple more laps around the neighborhood.

Yes if you look at Simon's pix on his site, he has some pix of his car with the Aspire springs on it. They make the car have tons of POSITIVE camber unless you cut them. The Aspire springs are a bit longer and a bit stiffer than the stock Festiva springs so the car will sit higher and push the LCA's down and push the top of the tire out creating the positive camber you are talking about... -Kyle
