They won't work w/stripped holes.. I got mine from PrestigeWheel.com they were more like 40 but they work great. I just put the studs in with some Red Threadlocker to make sure they don't come back out. -Kyle

Get a metric thread insert kit (Heli-coil) of the correct size and drill and install new threads in your hubs. They are fairly easy to do since you already have the "pilot holes" (the stripped thread holes) to just drill out a tiny bit bigger for the inserts. An auto parts store should be able to get you a kit.

Take Kyle's advice and get some studs from Prestige Wheel. I use their studs to hold on 185/70-13 tires and wheels for racing and we have never broken a stud.

I would not try putting a bolt through from the back side because the back side of the front hubs is tapered (thick in the middle and thin at the edge) and that wouldn't allow the head of the bolt to sit flat. Only one side of the bolt head would be doing all the holding.

How do the stud kits work with a drum? Do they just go into the drum and hold? I've never taken a good look at anything that came like that, but it would confuse me.

What lengths did you use for those wheels John (I'm pretty sure it's John... :lol?

                Simon and others with alloys,
What are you using to hold on your wheels? Studs, festiva lug bolts, or other?

Yeah those are the studs I used and now I can run either acorn or v-shaped or even short shank nuts instead of just v-shaped stud bolts. -Kyle

The studs have a short thread and a long thread end. You just apply some loc-tite to the short thread end and screw it in the drum (or front hub) until it gets tight. The end of the stud has a hex hole for an allen wrench, but I don't use that. I get a couple regular 12 mm hex nuts and tighten them against each other on the stud and then turn the outside nut to tighten the stud in the drum.

I use the Prestige wheel studs - part # 2800L which is 1-3/4" long overall. On my 12" stock wheels, I use their lug nuts - part # 5555. With these nuts, I have about 3/16" of thread sticking out beyond the nut when it is tight.

I use the same stud for my 13" wheels, but I use a 3/16 backing plate behind the wheel and a 1" lug nut that I get from Diamond Racing. If you got 1" nuts and a guy pulls up beside you to race, he takes one look at the size of your nuts and just lets you go by.
The Diamond Racing web site has a lot of good information on wheels at their site under the FAQ section. You can find them at: http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/TOC.htm

                      Hi Matt,
I'm running the mazda 13" factory alloys with chrome headed lug bolts that I pulled from a first generation RX-7. This gives me a 17mm head instead of the stock Festivas 14mm. I hope to have pictures posted in the next few weeks.

I'm buying studs for my wheels (95 miata wheels). How long should they be or how much thread should be sticking out? They sell a 1.50, 1.75 and a 2.25 overall length.

It's going to depend on the backspacing of the wheel and everything.

Your best bet might be to order one of each and test fit them with the lug nuts you want to run.

My lug bolts seem to hardly go in with my 15" wheels, so I'm figuring they need to be a good bit longer with that. Trial and error might be the best bet...

Ended up ordering studs from summit racing. I found them at gorilla automotive products http://www.gorilla-auto.com/products...=249&sfID2=256. Summit carries these and also the lug nuts. Cheaper than the ones from prestige wheel.
