Earlier this week I posted some questions about what tires I should get. I decided on the yoko 165 70 R12s. Now I need help making the decision of whether I should forget buying new tires and just upgrade to 13'' wheels. I was doing some work in my garage and I noticed some wheels from my long-time moved away brother. I saw that they had the 4 bolt pattern and that they were 13 inch wheels. I immediately called my brother. They were from his old audi 4000s!!(which is on the wheel list). So should I stay with the 12 inch wheels and get new tires or put on the 13 inch wheels which have practically brand new snow tires on them? and if I go with the 13" wheels is anyone interested in my old 12" ones?

I'd go with the 13s in a hearbeat. Heck, I'm even thinking of upgrading to 15s if I can.88L - 'Twistiva' - 'The Fusion of Man and Machine'

Those Audi wheels may be 4 X 100mm. The centerbore will be a different size. You'll probably need ball seat lugbolts. Check before you commit. Then double check before you do it.

As everyone else has said, Try putting them on first because they cold be 4x100 or something else. If they do work I'd get some new tires for it and save those winter tires for the winter, which will be very nice to have.
13" is the way to go!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would look around and see if you can find some 15's cheap also. It will improve handling, braking, and I feel that it makes bumps and traintracks alot smoother also! It's going to be a little bit difficult to find some wheels that you like with the 4x114 bolt pattern and at a decent price, but it's worth a try!1992 white L, Bp, American racing 13's, stock trans.

Forget 12s. If the Audi wheels are 4x100, upgrade to Aspire brakes, which you should do anyway. Even if they're 4x114.3, putting heavier wheels/tires on stock Festy brakes will increase stopping distances. The most I'd put on a stock Festy brake is 13" Metro wheels with 155/80 tires, to keep the rolling weight and inertia down.Last edited by TominMO; 06-16-2011, 06:46 AM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

We'll talk more Sunday but in my opinion, the best thing to do is to try and find an aspire pretty cheap and buy it. That way you can get all the pieces to the swap and recoup some of your investment by selling the motor/ trans, interior, and other misc. Pieces. I went this route and it worked out great! I basically got paid to upgrade my Festy !1992 white L, Bp, American racing 13's, stock trans.

But Aspires are so much more common and do a fine job, esp. if you also swap the reservoir. And as a bonus you get more choices in wheels.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
