well gents the swap is done but im not completely satisfied yet i may get another set and start over because i had to cut the soft part of the spring off the top fronts to get it to fit on the perch and now it rides alittle too bouncy for my taste and i still dont fully trust the front spring perch yet (i wish they were deeper) i actually mite get some civic/del sol springs because they are some what softer. ididnt want to cut as much as i did off the front but did so trying to get everything to seat rite. i have no idea how someone would alighn this thing rite because the front springs need to be baby sat as your lowering the car to get seated properly (maybe ill have arty align it because he cares more than some random shop would). anothe option for the fronts would be welding the flat part of the spring back on the top and bottom to get it to seat better. the rears need to be held while lowering the car too but anyone who has cut springs knows the drill. so there are so many options and i need to figure out what im doing asap because i need an alignment. arty you interested in selling the del sol springs? i do have pics that i will post of the process but im at work now and last night i worked on it late trying to make sure it was safe to drive because i work in baltimore.Last edited by bobbyspider; 09-12-2011, 08:24 AM.

Sorry arty Ichthyology too many by accident but I think I'm taking the fronts off and welding the flat part of the spring back on for the top and then torch the bottom to flatten out the bottom coil so it sits in the bottom perch correctly. Or even weld the flat part from the back on the bottom of the front spring as well. More to come...

wow my android really botched up that word "Ichthyology" what the heck is that it was supposed to say "i cut". i cut to many coils. i do like the ride and it only bounces only when you hit a pretty big dip but it rides over bumps perfectly but even when you do bounce its not spleen killing and its only one recoil not bouncing allover the place. i actually rode in matts car and he has raceland coilovers and they feel about the same ish.
-arty this is the type of junk that happens when you give me only $40 a metal cutter and a powerfull desire to have a lowered car that rides nice

sounds to me like you need some coil over springs and some tender flat springs to take up the excess travel when the suspension become uncompressed.89 Festiva L Carby 4 Speed... RIP. Evicted and Scrapped. I HATE MY FAMILY

try summit racing or jegs. maybe even ebay. they are a flat wound coil so they compress to a flat ring when you load the suspension. you will need something to seat them on though between the springs. I'll be looking into these over the winter for my festy.89 Festiva L Carby 4 Speed... RIP. Evicted and Scrapped. I HATE MY FAMILY

These look like a good deal:
Faulkner helper springs. Flat section springs used to prevent the main spring rattling loose when the suspension is on full droop. Compress to a thickness of about 8mm. Low rate of 4lbs/inch so do not effect the spring rate.
Then you would need this spacer:

well gents i havnt done a how to or showed pics yet because i dont want to put other people in danger by telling them to try this untill igot it figgured out completely.
-the update is that im starting from scratch with some del sol springs because they are alittle softer than the prelude ones and i know everyone wants a nice smooth ride and i know the prelude springs would be to hard for alot of folks here. i messed up my front springs and cut too much off and made them verry unsafe and thats the biggest reason im going back to the drawing board (because i have to). ill be taking more pics and actually post them about the del sol springs. i guess mistakes are part of the process and i def know what not to do this time and that i have to think more taking my time (not getting too excited like a little kid on christmas eve). so im putting my stock cut springs back on the front tonight and doing the del sol swap this weekend. all in all if i mean "when" this works everyone can enjoy the fruits of my mistakes which is $25 lowering springs that are progressive
