  • finally making some traction bars...

i finally picked up some 3/4" heim joints with lock nuts, bungs and the tubing to stick it all together:

i made plates that attach to the lcas

the plates wont slide cause i made them fit to lock into the machined surface of the lca on one end

and i made a tab that locks into the lca on the other end

more to come in the following weeks... stay tuned
I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!

if your going that far, why wouldnt you get rid of the junk cast stuff from the factory and do a set-up like shortive is doing and make all new LCA's out of good tube? i think it would be even better...

mounted the plate on the control arm to get some measurements and cut some card board templates

using the templates i made this

clamped it on the frame rail where it will be bolted with 6 bolts. turned the wheel to full lock to check clearance and i have plenty

under side with it in place

                from the back side

Id buy for a reasonable price.

Do you think this would make the sway bar unneccesary?

i was looking up FWD traction bars on the interwebz and noticed that they use the heim joints on both sides of the bar. that was my original plan but space is very limited so i was thinking about just welding the one side to the lca. does anyone see a probelm doing this? i dont want to create too much stress on the frame rail when going over bumps. does anyone have any experience with these things? im just kind of winging it.

if i had to i suppose i could cut the heim joint stems down and just use the collar without a tube to make a really short link.

I'm certain it will bind without a heim joint on both ends. You could tack it together and cycle it up and down by hand to check though
