Just did a 2001 Rio front spring and strut swap with springs cut to about 9.75 inches and rears with new Aspire struts and cut front Festiva springs at 8 inches in length. The car is now transformed and rides so nicely, with a little bit of bounce over some larger bumps, it feels like a race car. The problem is, the springs would unseat while I had it jacked up. So I had to use two jacks and a block of 4x4 underneath the tires to lower it and keep the springs in proper position. I seriously doubt that they will ever unseat while driving. I was wondering if this is what everybody experiences with lowered Festivas. Loving the new stance and I keep wanting to drive it around just for fun.

Lowered Festy How do you jack up with shorter springs?

I dropped mine unintentionally (FMS Aspire sport springs) and will one day soon be rectifying that. However those springs do not unseat when the car gets jacked up.
I like, and appreciate the stock appearance (and lots of suspension travel available for ruts and bumps and climbing curbs) rather than trying to emulate race cars or 'end of life' cars with sagged suspensions. But then that's me.

How did you cut the spring? Did you flatten the coil that sticks out? Almost sounds like you cut from the top and bottom. I did this when I had my prelude springs on and had to babysit them when I dropped the car also. I just did a cut civic spring drop but only cut from the top and flattened the to cool that sticks out and they do not come unseated anymore. I can jack it up without worry when I drop it

The tops are all intact and flat, I only cut the bottoms off so they aren't flat which is what is causing them to unseat when the car is jacked up.Semper Fi til I die!

may want to add small holes to the lower spring perch and use some SS zip ties to keep the spring in place, and you'll want to flatten the spring a little as well.Trees aren't kind to me...
