  • you guys with 15" shoes on

How in the bloody world did you get them on!? I have the same ones as idealsociety and htchbck but can't get them on. I know my car is low but that's not the problem. The tires wont clear the rear perches but I feel if I grind them then it would just be hitting the spring. The tires are 195/50/15 are these too big? Any help would appreciated

Offset is everything. On mine I trimmed the lower sting seat a little to clear.
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

          Plenty of room!

          No rubbing!

Those are 185/45/15 tires though. I think 195/45/15 (much easier to get in the states) would fit perfectly fine, but 195/50/15s may be pushing it.

Aspire struts have a higher spring perch. Gives around 1/2" more clearance.

Seems to me there are a lot of conniptions involved just for the sake of having tires of widths greater than 175. I had to redrill the Aspire frame/body mounts of the trailing arm last year to center my 175/70-13 wheels perfectly. 1/8 inch doesn't seem like much but when you're that close to the fenders it makes all the difference in the world. One wheel cleared easily and the other rubbed on every bump.
The current rims I have are Kia Rio 6x14 and readily allow the 155 tires to clear the Aspire spring perches. But were there tires wider than 175 on those rims I'd be having to roll the fender lips. Sometimes it is best to not get too carried away with trying to put on wider tires than necessary. Just my opinion of course.

Personally I cheated IdealSociety and I have the same style of rim, but mine are 13x5.5 with 155/80R13s lol. No rubbing at all! Biggest tires I've run have been 185/60R14 and 205/60R13. Both rubbed the rear spring perch like Brad said but they eventually just cut a little nitch out of the shoulder block and no more rubbing. The 14s were +38 offset, and the 205/60R13s were +35. I think with any higher of an offset those would have been rubbing the body of the shock itself, they were WIDE!

Sasquatch is the man. Lets see those repositioned rear strut towers! I've been thinking of doing that too, so I can run -2 degrees camber in the rear with the 7" slicks.

Sasquatch and ad: you guys have awesome rides!

I have the exact same Wheels as ideal society he must have aspire suspension I guess. I have kyb's and my car is super low bur u do have rolled and even stretched fenders. It looks like I'm going to have to mod the rear struts? I haven't even tried them on front yet. I'm trying to put these on my white car because I think that these mag 0 offset wheels are messing up my hubs or bearings or something plus I got a flat so instead of buying a tire I figured I'd use the wheels I have that have good tires already. So in the meantime I'm driving my subaru sounding 3 cylinder BP to work LOL but realty want to get this done before I cause more damage to my BP... ugh why can't my solutions be easier

I misunderstood what Sasquatch meant by " cut of rear perches" lol. Thought he cut them off the body of the car and moved them inward. Lol.
Thanks Bobbyspider, I must admit that I'm going to miss the bright green old school wheels. A friend of mine runs those exact wheels on his formula Ford (not green though).

Advancedynamix - I saw you had a pic of your struts showing tire clearance and I was just wondering what struts you have?

:eeeeeek: SUBARU SOUNDING!!?? That is horrible! You should be wearing
a disguise and using streets you would never drive..

Trim the perch and thin out the spring a little, if you don't want to roll the fender lip
at least "adjust " them a little so they are the same on both sides.

They are KYB gr2s for an aspire with 1 7/8" ( made for small body shocks) coilover kits. It's a simple mod. Here's my writeup.
