Ah, now that's do-able! If I do an MPG build, then I may keep my Festiva stock suspension and brakes due to their lighter weight.

    Here's some tires I could safely run on a 15 X 4" rim...

145/65-15, which would be about 16mm taller than stock:

Klitzekleine Preise, versandkostenfreie Lieferung schon ab 2 Reifen, günstiger Montageservice für Reifen fast überall in der Schweiz, unkomplizierte Bestellung, flexible Zahlungsabwicklung, sehr große Auswahl

Or 155/60-15, which would be about the same as above:

Not sure I'd want to go to 165s on only a 4" wide rim.

Now here's an interesting space saver, from a Honda Insight:

Probably alloy, with a T115/70D-14 tire. Looks cool! I bet it's 14 X 4", and it would be great with a 155/65-14 tire, which would be about 10mm taller than stock.

Price is too steep though. I'd have to get these locally.

Love it! Looks very utilitarian, like something you'd see on a little John Deere, or a Russian sports car.

It also looks kinda "aero" styled to me.

Kind if a general question... are the speed restrictions on space savers due to the construction of the tires or of the wheels?

I think it's the tires and that's what a few others have said here.

I know it wouldn't match, they are more "goldenrod," but those things on a yellow festiva...haha

I'll bet there are 15" space-saver wheels out there, with the 4x100 bolt pattern.
Here is a website that lists skinny 15" tires, made for old VW Bugs:

With these tires you would change the gearing a bit, giving better hwy mileage.

According to Tires_easy (which I don't trust because they tried ripping me off with tires they said were in stock and weren't, then wouldn't give me my money back) you can get 145/60 15 blizzaks! Stud those things and you have yourself a winter winner. Used to love my Blizzaks in the snow and ice on my v-dubs. I bet you could hook up with an N/A BP (gseries) on those tires in the snow. Blow past trucks on snowy roads all day long. RX7 spares painted white would even look like OZ super tourismos (1200 dollar a wheel magnesium rally wheels). Makes me want to build a snowstiva. haha
