Gage, I think the misunderstanding is coming from the fact that your current tires are apparently not factory size. You keep referring to the factory size as 165/80R13 (23.4"), but it is actually 165/70R13 (22.1). So you are already riding over 1/2" higher than the factory size (1.25" taller tires overall). Going even wider and taller than that is likely to cause some clearance issues. The 185/60R14s that Karl is recommending are a great choice for the car, they would be a little shorter than what you have now, but a good bit wider and should still fit without any problems.
