If you put a hose going from one line to the other (rack drained of fluid) it keeps the debris out and won't build air pressure. This works good if you plan to add power down the road.

you can run a power rack just by installing it w/o the lines and preffrably a short piece of the hard line bent over so water can't get in, and a small piece of screen/sponge over the end to keep bugs etc out.

But the better way is to disassemble the rack and remove the seals since you won't need them and they just put drag on the rack. With the seals removed an rio tophats it isn't "that" much harder to turn the de-powered festy rack than the manual rack.

That answers my questions, theres 2 power racks at a nearby junkyard i've found but dealing with all the power items might be another headache. I won't be putting this thing together until next month likely as i've been on my spudstiva project but if you still have it then i'd gladly take you up on the offer.

LOVE my rio rack. When i get in my other festiva i always think something is wrong when i go to turn. It feels different!

So over stock rack the rio rack turns approx 19% faster. Festiva power turns approx 25% faster than stock. Not only is 6% negligible, but I'd rather have extra throw. Plus your still not considering that I could have a rio rack to sell you this weekend, there you will have a very hard time finding the Festiva power rack.

Ok, reason i'm asking is i'm about to rebuild my front end. I'm wondering whether to try out the Rio Rack, or go to Power Festy Rack. Turning radius isn't a big deal to me unless it starts turning like a bus. I would like to just make it quicker so around open hairpins or L/R 2's I don't have to let go of the wheel.

It's a lot easier to find the rio rack than the power festy rack. Also the longer throw makes your small turning radius smaller. You don't have to power either rack, unless ur lazy. It's probably a good idea to just put new tie rods on the rack, so why not just put the Festiva parts on. However, I did get away with an allignable setup by shaving some threads off the inner tie rods and shaving some of the body off the outer tie rods.

So i'm a little confused on this. From Skeeter's post he's saying the festiva power rack is the quickest option? Yet if you don't want to go the power route, the rio steering rack with festy ITRs will give you a decent upgrade?
