Fudge, the size I gave you is what you want. The 70 series tires on Craigslist are too tall (still). Granted they will fit much better than what you have now.
hmm I'm not sure you are correct with this, my last tires were 175/70/r13 and they were fine for me. what are they too tall for? how will that 10% difference make a difference?

on another note, today my friend and I tried to bleed my brakes and we were only able to bleed one brake because all 3 of the other bleeder screws were rusted and broke off. is this the time that I should do a full aspire brake swap? what should I do about this because my brakes are pretty bad.

I found a set on craigslist that are 175/70/13 close enough, and that is the same size as my last tires.
I also found a set on craigslist that are 155/80/13 but that is smaller than I like, isnt that the stock tire size?

Most rims of that era and size are 6" wide, so I'd use that as a starting point.

i knew the rim size had to stay the same but I thought the first number did too, lol. Ok so I will look into new tires. once I have smaller tires I still am wanting to change my struts and spring looking things. what would you recommend me to do?

First number is the section width of the tire (side wall to side wall when inflated) expressed in millimeters. this is NOT the tread width.
Second number is a percentage of the first number.
Third number is the rim diameter for that tire.

The first number needs to be considered in relation to the rim width, but is not a hard number (i.e. a 5.5" wide rim will fit anything between a 145 and a 195 without issue).

I won't get into odd fitments or stretch right now.
thank you very much this makes a lot of sense. potential silly question: how do i find out how wide my rims are?
