  • question on tire rim size

    Hello,

I am new here but not new to Festivas! I am on my second Festiva (1990 Auto). I have a question regarding wheel and tire size. Would the following wheels fit my Festiva, if so can you advise on the best tire size so as to not have any clearance issues? Thanks in advance!

    Bolt Pattern: 4 x 4.5", 4x114.3
    Rim Width: 150mm
    Rim Diameter: 390mm

With those measurements it looks like you have a 15x6 Wheel which will fit as long as the offset if right. If you look on the back of the wheel you should see a the letters "et" and then a number afterwards. If you are running stock suspension then you want that around a 32 if I remember correctly. If you go much higher than that then you will need to add spacers to keep from rubbing. The rear will start to rub before the front does so if needed just add a 5-10mm spacer on the rear.

As far as tires, I would recommend 165/50/15's. These will keep your speedo very close to stock and should keep you from scrubbing tires against suspension parts.

Thanks for info! I just received more information from the seller, they told me that two of the wheels are 0 offset and have 3.5" back spacing, the other two are 1" offset and have 4.5" back spacing. The wheels with 3.5" back spacing have a larger bore and use a larger diameter and taller center cap. I do not want to use spacers if there is no need, would these wheels fit? Thanks!

0 offset is much too low, you will hit the fenders due to how far they will poke out

Yes, if you want them badly enough you would have to cut the fenders and install fender flares i believe.
Also wouldnt it look really weird on a festiva to have rims that are that different?

True, I was just thinking about that, I just found these near my house:

"A set of four matching vintage aluminum mag (or slotted) wheels. Wheels have the rare 4x4 or 4x101.6 bolt pattern. They are 13" and the width is 5.5". Backspacing is 3-3/8". Wheels are used and have wear on them. The usual stuff like scratches and curb rash. See pictures."

              would these fit?

No, you need 4x4.5 (4x114.3) bolt pattern

Unless you do a brake and hub swap off an aspire which gives you 4x100.
But i think ideal is 14x6 with multi bolt pattern. Worth waiting for if you have to/can i think. My car isnt lowered and was on brand new struts so its sitting a little high in the photos but thats what i have.
Car handles very nice with the 165/55 14 tires. And those tires are cheap and easy to get in the usa right now.

I say multi bolt pattern because you may later want to install the bigger brakes just on the front or both ends. Then you can keep the same rims. I have a 4x100 hub on the front and 4x 114.3 drum on the back.

I am going to swap to Capri front brakes so that I can keep the 4x114.3 on all 4 since I am running old Nissan wheels.

The width and offset are very important if you are having rubbing issues
