Yes, unfortunately I didn't discover this site until after I put my parts car in the junk yard. So the capri tranny went with it.

        So stock tranny for now

You need the alignment tool for a festiva....i have a couple but just found out today that i'm workin sat. Have you had the flywheel resurfaced by a machine shop? This should be done before installing a new clutch. Also the mounts are simple once you get the motor close to where it should be.....It would probably be easier to install the harness in the engine bay before the motor, but it is still simple to do with the motor, also with the motor in, it let's you know which plug or wire needs to end up where....

Just my .02, but i wanna help, and the florida guys can do it....

Stinks that you are working Greg, I am almost thinking about just trying to move the car over to the new house and get everything set up here and then waiting for a weekend when you might have some time.

I didn't get the flywheel resurfaced. How much does it cost? And what kind of turn around should I expect? If it really needs to be done I will do it, but at this point I am really low on funds. The flywheel doesn't look bad, there's no scoring and it has just a little bit of a glazed look to it?

Anyways thanks again for all your help guys, couldn't do it with out you....and probably would have run out of motivation by now.

You can de-glaze it with sandpaper. Someone else can chime in with what grit to use. Just make sure to use a rotating, random kind of motion. And do it by hand, for more control, rather than a use a power tool.

i have heard something about just scratching the fly wheel up some with some really light sand paper i would get some more opinions but i did this once on a flywheel i did in a miata the reason being the guy didn't want to put any money into it and he was going to sell it so i just used some like 1200 grit sandpaper and lightly scratched the glaze away... His even had some small cracks should have been replaced but the last i heard it is still running around so couldn't hurt.... he never did end up selling it i wonder if i got the shaft on that deal come to think about it??

Luke the going rate for a resurface is $20-$30.....and turnaround is usually 2-3 days depending on the shop. I have what we need to scuff it up or I have a couple flywheels here, including a new one. They are $50 new. I'll try and forecast my schedule for you and give you a coupe days notice so you can get things lined up. And maybe i can convince some of the other guys to come help......I get in touch with you this weekend...

Thanks again guys, I might look into having someone do it the right way? Would I need to go to a machine shop, or just any auto repair place.....I usually stay away from repair shops, I am tired of getting ripped off

Greg, if worst comes to worst, I will scrounge up 50 bucks and by one off you if you have it. Are you (did you) putting a festiva tranny back into your car or are you looking to try something else?

When I get done cleaning out the old garage and trying to move stuff over I will take pictures of everything, including the flywheel so you can tell me if you think it is really jacked up.

I know that some of you are going to freak out about this.....the tranny and flywheel probably have about 200k miles on them

Like I said earlier, somethings are going to have to be done to get it running, and then I will come back to them. Not the way I would like to do it, but such are the times if you know what I mean

Trust me Get the flywheel resurfaced. I forgot to resurface mine and it chatters when you launch the car (It has a new clutch kit). Too much trouble to pull the engine just for that at the moment. Plus it's not so bad I can't deal with it. By the time I thought about it the car was together and being driven. Oooops.
                        Just my 2 cents worth.

Machine shop is the only way to go altho autozone used to do it for $20 but i do not think they do that anymore. Don't worry about mileage on the trans. Mine took alot of abuse and had 250k on it. And i'm going back with a festiva trans.... I'll bring you a good flywheel if need be.....just gotta find time off.....i think i have next weekend off but i'll double check tomm. at work...Call me later Luke...

Thanks again guys, and Greg I will try to get in touch with Chris, thanks for the encouragement.

Well hopefully I will get a few things done tomorrow, and I won't forget to bring a camera so that i can take a couple of pictures.

I didn't replace my timing belt either, it looked almost new, hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the butt.

Wish me luck, I will update you tomorrow.
