Tom's B6 Build Thread

Just received a gen2 B6 cylinder head in the mail. It came from some guy in northern Indiana who allegedly knows something about working on cars. Grew up on a farm, he said. Donkmeyer, Duckmeyer, something like that. Anyways, thought you'd like to see a couple of pics.

I think this is the top. I guess I'll find out when I go to bolt it on.


Note the manual screw adjusters, not hydraulic as you would expect from a gen2. He had to go this route due to the cam profile, IIRC what he said. I sent him the gen1 valvetrain that I just happened to have laying around.

I'm expecting BP power and ~38 MPG cruising at 60 MPH, extrapolating from what he did with the B3 head. Of course this head will just spin my not-new stock clutch.

Yep. It wasn't cheap, but hey, there might not be Festys in Heaven/Valhalla/(insert favorite afterlife location here).

With the right tranny/clutch (even an F tranny will have a much better clutch available than my current E), I could see going rear-turbo again. But I may decide that 110-115 WHP is sufficient.

I am loving my Dickmeyer massaged B3. But I am having an issue with the lash adjusters ticking. Would the earlier manual adjusters like you have work on the B3?
