if you look closer, it appears to have been in a wreck and the "mod" was performed to hide the damage...

Good find, and how was the roof removal to hide a wreck? The roof is in perfect condition and goes back on.

i'm taking into account that the cut areas are severly bent in (as if crushed) instead of cut flush and capped to keep the seams clean. i'd do a carfax on it to be safe...

Except that the cuts are a little rough, and a little off, it looks like it might be headed this way...

Which, IMHO is a very cool idea. A bit more than I'd have paid for it, but congrats!! And have fun with it.

I would definitely try a Tracker ragtop. That'd be a fun little car that way.

The atomic fireball name should be worth at least $100.00 ? Do you get rights to the name with the deal too ?

                I like it!

If the important stuff (mechanicals) is in good shape, I'd say you got a good deal.

I'd do the rollbar tied into the rear strut area (for safety and body stiffening) and think about either a "half convertable," prettying up the current detachable roof, or making a better, possibly lighter "hardtop."

Or a pickup. Pickups are good.

Took the top off today for the first time and drove it around, it was freezing, but otherwise it was awesome, lots of strange looks from other drivers. Also finally got around to taking some pics:

Have fun with your new toy.

There is a guy out here in california with a burgundy festiva who made his a truck, took a 1980s ford truck emblem and made it to an "F-50." I finally saw it at big lots the other day. Everyone at work tells me they spot him but i had never seen it until this week.

Haha, I was actually going to try to get my hands on an F-650 emblem and stick it on there.
