I'm proud to announce that today Bebandit and I have my car up on jacks and we are beginning the aspire swap that has taken so long to put together. Pics will come! Also, the amp/sub is in and going under the driver's seat. The stereo I wanted was discontinued, so I'll have to keep the one I've got now in it, and upgrade my speakers. Pics of that to come as well!

Well, after several hours of hammering, inventing new languages, a sunburn I'll remember when I'm 50, and a vast majority of the technical work and instruction done by Bebandit (I'm a driver, Jim, not a mechanic!), the Aspire swap is underway. There are several pictures, and we are working on a write-up as well as a parts/price list. So now for your viewing pleasure, a few pics!

I love red on gold, always have. Looking great... make sure you keep those side moldings to sell... speaking from personal experience with my Festiva, they look fantastic with a set of blackened bumpers with pinstripe! Your handling must have improved 5000% this weekend! Look into my build thread (page three) if you want a way to make your Aspire swap even better for under $50.Last edited by Aaronbrook37; 09-25-2010, 07:47 AM.1988 Chevy Sprint Turbo 997cc

I don't know where the heck my pic went... I just bought all the stuff to get the car to look the way it does. I agree that lowering it would be awesome, but the tires stick out past the fenders without spacers, and the wheels were dangerously close to the strut tower support brackets without them. I don't want to alter the body, so I guess I'll just keep it as it is. I want to be able to carve up some mountains and keep the ability to carry rearward passengers as well, without losing stock ride comfort.
Today my front bearings locked up on me on the way back from the alignment shop. The shop where I had my parts pressed pressed them too hard. The right bearing pulled me into a ditch at 35mph. Mostly because I thought the caliper had broken and I was damaging major parts. Luckily, I didn't damage the car. The whole thing happened right down the street from Bebandit's house, so after I SLOWLY drove the car to his place, he tore it down to the bearings, where we found that they had been burnt up. So after a quick trip to O'Reilly's and $65 later, I have more bearings that I will again take to that shop and have them pushed for free, and they will also be kind enough to reimburse me, because had that happened at 65, I may not have been posting anything for a while! In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:
