    FOUND IT!

Bonus points to whoever identifies the anomaly (other than my crappy masking job around the block heater hole) in the 2nd picture.

A note to anyone doing exhintake: you don't have to do anything fancy to cut the dizzy drive. I had it done perfectly in 10-15 minutes with a cutoff wheel on a die grinder, and a bench grinder.

Mini update: Ran winter autocross with the B3 last weekend. Kinda sucked not having a good heater in the car (or nearly enough winter gear, as i found out while marshalling for the 4WD guys) but it was a blast. More fun than racing on pavement if I might say.
Looking at probably February to drop the BP in at this point.

Indeed. I've zapped myself 3 or 4 times on stock ignitions (all of them were from cracked plug wires or boots), don't wanna find out what it feels like to get a shock from this box.
Worst one I've seen was a guy diagnosing a no-start on a '50s Chev I6. Couldn't feel or move his arm for like half an hour.

I seen arcs coming from the Coils on my rx7. I reached down to move the wires away from the other one and nearly pee'd on myself. That was the last time I did that.

Looking foward to seeing more progress.

Me too. I'm going stir crazy this winter. But I don't have access to a garage until my friend gets back to this continent.

LOL I never actually did this; but, my father and uncle and friends used to reminisce about hiding a Model T coil under grass or straw, then get someone to urinate on the thing while hooked to a battery. 40,000 volts crawl directly up the stream of pee to knock off a person's whang or whatever!

K my head is spinning here. Ignition stuff has always been confusing to me, more so when MSD's diagrams and documentation are vague at best when it comes to anything that's not an american V8 or a honda.
I want to set this 6AL up on the B3. I have no idea if it even works, so I'd like to set it up now to check that, and it would make for less work when I'm doing the swap so as to minimize the time spent in a borrowed garage, and I don't want to have to do any major work after the swap.
How in the crap do I wire this thing?
Also, it's my understanding that I need a tach adapter so that the ECU knows what's going on. Is that true, or is someone blowing smoke into one of the more personal areas of my body? and if so, which one (8910 or 8920)?

Its very easy to install POWER that's the big red wire go to batter +, big black wire that's the ground anything steel will work. Next is trigger orange goes to the + side of the coil pack, Black goes to - side of coil.

White connect to your - factory coil plug wire coming from your ECU.

small Red connect to the + factory coil plug wire coming from your ECU.

YOU NEED A TEST LIGHT AT MIN or GET A MULTIMETER FOR SAFE TESTING!

TACH adapter = 8910 easy white to white T connection red goes to Small red T connection.

                        Thanks

K thanks. You're my hero. And do I need to use the diode that comes with the tach adapter?

                              Welp.

I busted my head today. The BP, not my skull. Not going to post why, suffice to say I'm an idiot. Might post that in an arena thread, but I can't say what happened without a little coarse language.

I'll likely be putting a B8ME head on it so I can just get this swap over with. Anything I should know? Will my 9.5:1 pistons be an issue? I need a different water pump and timing belt, anything else?
