Got the motor/trans out and took VC off and the oil is as thick as bearing grease!

What a filthy loving mess. well I'm glad you enjoy that sucker! I didnt want to get my fingers anywhere near it.

For a cylinder head that looked cleanish it is very gross on the inside.

Updates!

Slow... I decided to take more time and do this right! I dont feel like pulling the engine anytime soon

I degreased the engine bay today and in person it is very clean.
Before the wash:




This is after washing(the flaking paint is from battery acid-just paint, no rust)





Coil-over sleeves and springs will be here Friday along with my inner/outer tie-rod ends, and LCA's
Found a radio bezel in storage to replace the broken one in the car, as well as the rear strut tower plastic, when I paint the interior.
The build is going steady, and staying on course by only replacing the needed parts first.....

With this festy Im trying my best not to rig nothing and do all the work the best I can to bring it back to "stock" as I can.
The only "mods" will be the escort seats which most people wont realize are different, lol

Progress will depend on a deal I just got for 2 FREE festys!!!!
1 is wrecked in the rear, but drivable 89LX auto! with all options(no motor/trans)
1 is a green(unsure of year) EFI 4speed(been swapped) that Runs and drives!
Guy says it needs a clutch but can make the 50 mile trip just fine(papers on 12,000 mile rebuild!)

He is giving them to me to swap the 89 auto motor/trans into another festy the has no motor/trans. then he is giving me the 89LX shell with Alloys after I get done!

I should have the motor in my green car by friday around lunch and will set off
on its first trip(300miles round trip) this weekend, Will upload pix tomorrow...

Wait for it............. IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, Last night I started the install, But became frustrated because of my phone going off every 2 seconds(dang girls) haha...

So today I went out and took my time and..... It cranked right up and runs!!!

The original clutch was toast, so I swapped in one I had laying around...
BAD Idea! It was a brand new one from my BP swap that had oil ALL over it!
The clutch slips no matter how I adjust it! Its fine in 1,2,3 gears, But in 4th and 5th with any power going to it besides kinda flat coasting it slipped BAD!
So needless to say, I gotta get a clutch to call the motor swapp a success.

Side note: The motor Ticks pretty bad, (From sitting?)
I figure it might go away after a few miles or so, with letting the lifters and stuff get good and oiled....


Here are the pix, I took my time and did everything the right way and double checked myself as to not have any problems! So far, No leaks,smoke,funny problems.....
