So just wedging a flathead screwdriver in between the toothed parts will cause it to reset? How does one lube the pivots without getting stuff on the shoes? Q-tips?

Well that's good to hear, I think I'll probably do this myself then. The brakes are my least favorite part. Those darn clips resulted in a lack of feeling in the tips of my thumbs for about a week in February. Thanks for the help as always on this grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeat!!!! forumOwner of:

for the clips, i use a needle nose pliers in the grooves or channel locks for the outside edge to push in and turn.Trees aren't kind to me...

What a crappy day... Just checked the front hubs after a 10 mile jaunt and they were very warm, and what I thought was a recently developing rear bearing hum at 55 is probably the fronts. I'll probably just pay through the nose to have the shop do all 4. FML And that doesn't even get into whats going down at school as we reach that magical day in June. Anyone know what getting all 4 bearings done at a shop usually runs?Owner of:

I've thought about it, but I don't have the time to get the aspire stuff for the next 3+ weeks and I'm not sure the bearings will last that long. Plus the Aspire stuff will need to be redone any way. And I can't see my parents letting me grab a donor car for the brakes AND one for a BP swap. Not many cheap/easy ways out of this one.Owner of:

Quotes from the 3 local Shops are in for all 4 bearings
Dana's (Family has used them for years)- $650
Les Schwabb (I'm applying for a job there and the guy knows me, told me to bring it down so they could check and see if it's something else)- $400-450
Matt's IMPORT HAVEN (Doesn't work on festivas, prefers not to do Mazdas because of so many ford parts, Doesn't think it's bearings because he rarely sees cars with multiple bad bearings.)
ALSO freakin' gas truck backed into the festy at home and left a 4 inch scrape on the rear quarter and left some paint on it and hairline cracked the taillight. Cars should never receive less damage in a Highschool parking lot than at home in the driveway!!
I'll take it down to Les Schwab to have it checked out.Owner of:

But I'd probably have to do the bearings on the Aspire assembly anyway, and the bearings probably won't last long enough to get the Aspire swap. I wish I could just do the Aspire swap, but I'm sort of up a creek on this one.Owner of:

Out the door for 120$ turns out the rears needed a proper repack, the noise was transfer along the frame, and the fronts were probably warm because I had the rear drums so loose that the front brakes had to take up the slack when the rears couldn't hack it. AAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNYWAY... Donors for the BP swap in western WA are ridonculously overpriced so I'll probably have to boogie over to Spokane/Idaho or Portland. Also, does anyone know where the biggest Racing in Mexico" area is in the Puget Sound area? I just wanna spectate the ricers.Owner of:

Donor cars aren't cheap lol, you just have to wait for the right deal, and it's next to impossible to talk JY guys out of their cars unless you know them personally. Get over on cp.com and keep an eye out over there too! It might take awhile, but with patience you'll get what you want!

120 for everything, parts and labor on the rear repack. I realize it was probably high, but I didn't want to screw it up more. Anywho, the Haynes Manual has confused me as I read more about what I'll need to do for the BP swap. When I pull the axles both on the donor and the festy (I'm assuming they're essentially the same procedure) http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...t=axle+removal Such as this thread, me gustan fotos. I should only have to torque the axle nut on the front and then stake it, right? nothing to do with the bearings or preload spacers on the front?Owner of:
