  • Ironstiva (Pimptiva/Grey festiva) updates...

So now that I have the new festy home I've been able to do a little work here and there. My main goal is to clean it up and "complete" it. First off if you remember Pimptiva then you remember Simon's custom flip out taillight/fuel filler setup. Well I decided I was going to go back to that but I had some work cut out for me to make those lights work with the new paint scheme.......

The light on the left is after a good bit of wetsanding (the other light is what they both looked like)
And here they are both wetsanded and polished....(excuse the crappy cell phone pics)

I don't have pics of it, but I also had to track down a replacement hinge for the flip out light. The original hinge was cut off and a different taillight was zip tied in place with access to the fuel filler just being inside the hatch area. I also decided to tackle the headliner or lack thereof! Having a gaping hole in the roof in the form of a ragtop is pretty awesome, but at the same time I hated looking up and seeing the ugly bare roof and no headliner. Here's an old busted headliner I used for my trial cutting (thanks Mark)..

Here's the material I decided to use....

Yes it's purple! I originally planned to use it in the interior of hulkstiva
    And here's the completed headliner....

Not bad if I do say so myself! It's not perfect but I think it looks pretty good and will really compliment the interior of the car now. So those are my updates thus far. Will add more as more gets done. Thanks for looking!

Yeah I think I wetsanded a few of my fingerprints off along with that orange paint!

I used another stock headliner that wasn't broken and cut it just like the one pictured and glued the purple material to the headliner with 3M 90 spray adhesive. I won't be using the factory rear view or the sunvisors so I covered the holes for those as well. It'll be mounted using the factory mounts/plugs/plastic screws. The front of my rag top also has a few screw holes on the interior to attach the headliner as well. Simon said he had a headliner cut in this same manner and it worked fine. I'm planning on adding some kind of clips to secure it even better along the sides and rear though....don't wanna chance any wind getting caught in between the headliner and the roof of the car!

And you didn't even post pics of the car itself  nice job on the headliner though :thumbright:

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I am still considering ordering a Kia Pride service part headliner. $118.
It is designed for manual belts. But, I am scared of the shipping cost from Korea.

Hulk is currently at an undisclosed location somewhere in the wilderness I have it on good authority that he will be making an appearance at FM5 though. It'll be nice to see it running again!

And for those of you that were wondering and hadn't seen it before, here is what I'm talking about with the hinged taillight/fuel filler.....

Maybe not "ready" but I should be there with it. Gotta get it ready for inspection and get it tagged asap!
