Finished painting one of the wheels today and I just don't know how I feel about it. The paint job is FAR from perfect (painting mesh wheels is a pita!). I don't even wanna think about painting the other 3 right now! I think I like the way they look originally better but they will still need to be refinished due to damage. Anyway, here's what I started with....

    And after paint....

Haha, it's got a very fresh coat of clear on it in the pic. I also had to go heavier on the purple because of a mistake I made. I used the metalcast purple so it's supposed to have an annodized look but since I went so heavy with the paint it's just DAP (dark a_ _ purple) now

I'll wait to see what the rims look like when they are on the car.

I personally would like the rims polished instead of painted. What about powder coating is that a option?

It's gonna look funny cause I'll only have this one painted and on the car with the other 3 not painted

I've thought about getting them powdercoated but I probably should have done that before putting the new tires on. Right now I plan on riding on them as is or painted/whatever until the tires wear out, then I'll see about getting them coated

It is the same car, but I know what you mean. The car definitely looks good, even mean, with black wheels, I was just trying something a little different with it to make it pop! Part of the reason I like the original finish on the wheels is because the black accents on them go so nicely with the car and still keeps an aggressive look about it. When I get a chance I'm gonna put this wheel on it and see how I like it. It's looking like I'll be stripping the purple paint off though!

Next time put some masking tape or old lugs into the lug seats so they don't get painted. The lugs will cover the seats anyway, and trying to properly torque the lug bolts down over the paint is asking for trouble. Also, maybe not purple... but thats just me.
                      No festiva for me ATM...

The way I figure is if you want your rims to stand out, go chrome, seeing purple, blue, green, yellow, whatever colour rims, no thanks, I think it takes away from a clean look of a car, but that's just me

I liked the black rims on that car, though I usually dont like solid black rims. Looked good with the grey.

Chrome I can't do....just never liked chrome wheels and I think it would look weird on a festy.

Black rims do look good on this car, but I've seen a set like I have in black and they just don't look as good. I think the factory finish on these wheels is the best

On that statement I can definitely agree with you.

I agree with that statement as well. With black+polished or black+grey. Especially on a multispoked wheel like that, it added depth and character that no single solid color can.
