  • Picked up a Tracer today!

Not for me, I'm fixing it up for Sparky (wish I was keeping it though).

Pit stop at McDs on the way home. Love the graphics on the side.

    About to start:

Hour and a 15 mins later:

Looks like the PO was correct, needs a new clutch!

Good thing too, because there is one on the way from Rock Auto as we speak. They're also sending a front and rear main seal, water pump, and a timing belt, good time to do it while the engine is out More pics when the parts get here.
    No festiva for me ATM...

Yeah, there's a 5-door hatch and a wagon at the local P-a-P...the same color too!

This car is actually for my neice and her Mom...they have a 1992 Ford Tempo that is about go...too much rust and not a lot of maintenance done over the years before they got it.

I found this Tracer on Craigslist for $500 and I told the fella I wanted to come see it sometime this week. He was, as we say, a motivated seller....his Dad wanted it out of his driveway! He told me if I came to see it this weekend and wanted it, he'd sell for $225...and you all see the result! I am nursing a torn bicep right now, so Htchbk is a real lifesaver getting it and getting it road-worthy....THANKS, BUD!!

It has 181,000 miles showing on the odo, btw.

                  Sparky,
Looks like a worthy replacement for the tempo.
                  Looks pretty much rust free.
A wrinkled panel but nothing too bad.

Too many 12 ounce curls? Perhaps not! I fell at work and was holding onto a railing at the time and didn't let go. Left arm bent back at a very painful angle, but my company has been very nice to me so far and I have been on "light duty" for 2 months.

As far as the Mr. Universe title goes, I'm a young man....plenty of time

I love all the 80's & 90's model hatchbacks! Heck, if it's a hatch, I'm probably drooling anyway.

According to FedEx the water pump and seals should be here today, the clutch and TB tomorrow. This is doing quicker than I expected. Still gotta get two tires mounted and balanced too.

Got a present in the mail today, front and rear main seal and a water pump! FedEx says clutch and TB will be here tomorrow still. And more good news, the dead battery that was in it took a full charge. I will test it in the morning to see if its stayed at full capacity for a full 24hrs, but should at least be sufficient to get the car home, and last until it is turned over to the niece and her mother.
