    Maybe rocketman knows...

Under "race inspired conditions" my trans grinds from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, Is it possible to buy a gear set thats not $6000 dollars and repair the trans or get it rebulit by a trans shop?

or is it possible to bolt a bpt awd trans into a gtx? what mods would it need?

I was thinking about buying a JDM BPT with an AWD trans and putting the BPT in my festy and putting the AWD trans in my gtx retaining the b6T with an upgraded turbo, chipped ecu, and intercooler, exhaust/intake.

It's the famous G-type 2nd gear synchro crunch. Same issue the FWD boxes have. You could have the trans rebuilt with new synchros. Find a good shop though, I've heard people say that their G5MR-X just isn't the same after a rebuild.

You could put the BPT trans in, You'd need to make custom mounts and hybrid axles to get everything to place nicely. The B6T won't fit the same with the BPT trans, it will lean forward. Why not put the BPT in there though?

Try a new trans fluid, first. Ask on Clubprotege about it - synchromesh comes to mind but the GTX gurus there know best

      Thx for the info,

I thought i could kill 2 birds with one stone and have a bpT festy and a non grinding b6T transmission...

Ive never rebulit a trans before, i think this may be my calling.

I changed every fulid in the car 9including the infamous center diff) but i put 80-90 synthetic amsoil in the trans... im wondering if syncromesh rather than 80-90 could cure the problem? all my vw friends swear by syncromesh.

I just recently fixed my dads 01 ram trans by adding a bottle of trans seafoam, but i highly doubt that will fix the problem on a 5speed.

Drop the BPT/AWD into the GTX and build a B6T festiva

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

That's already done ... I might throw a different turbo kit and intake mani on it though.

Im looking at trans rebuild kits and doing lots of reading.... sounds like its going to be a gong show.

you will likely never find replacement panels. best bet is to just get good closeup pics of a good panel and have a body guy (or yourself if your handy with a welder and bodywork) replicate it themselves.
