My wife loves me. Bought a used mig welder last night. Lincoln 255C. It is about 3 years old and got used lightly for farm use. This will work alot better than my cheap HF flux core welder. I can't wait to start playing with it. My wife is still not complete sold on the fact that I needed it. Now just got to go to the store and get some gas and weld a 220 plug into the shop. Might have alot of fun the next 2 weekends.

Yah, I was going to get a gas blend as that seems to be what everybody is recommending for mig welding. Gonna watch some videos too on technique, I know the principles and basic theory, I just need alot of practice.The Festiva Store

Finally, its alive, sort of. After getting the second motor into the car and rebuilding my mounts properly, I fired it up today. No exhaust after the downpipe so it was pretty loud. The charging light was on in the dash, but the battery was showing it was getting 15V, so I am not sure on the reason for that. Also I haven't installed the shifter on to the tranny so I was not able to test drive it or run it through the gears. I need to also finish mounting all the wiring in the fender area. I put the battery in the trunk but I still need to install that properly. But it runs, so I am pretty happy about that.The Festiva Store

Drove it today. It is loud without an exhaust. Fan cycled properly and it seems to run smooth. While tacking my shifting rod into place so I could finish welding it outside of the car, a hot ball of metal went flying, burned through my sweatshirt and t shirt and then landed in my belly button. I got a nice burn in there now. It still hurts and that was over 10 hours ago.
Anyway, only things left to do is get an exhaust put on, air filter installed, fix the speedo cable, and get some descent tread on her. Also registration and insurance.
I was disappointing with the tranny. I have to hold in third while it is engaging otherwise it will grind third. Once it is rolling it stays in gear.
