yea I wish my garage was wider. It's a tight fit for our exploder. I have a 20x24 attached garage but I just store my mustang or rail buggy in. The 16x24 is the "workshop"

Going with a bonus room up top or just a high ceiling to allow for a lift?

PS - Greg, is that a ranger valence, did you have to shorten it? It looks really good on the Festy!!!

That is mikes (flyin4stroke's) car. It is a shortened civic bumper with a shortened ranger valance. It looks so good. Words can't really describe how well it looks. And I thought mine was nice......lol...............

ok then go for 10x8high or 12x8high, make sure inside is framed for the tracks to mount to. use a 2x8 & get two 10' long for the sides then you will need a center pad 2x8 to mount your torsion system to. do not get extension springs make sure you use a torsion spring or springs.

I will have to call you later, I can't remember all that lol. I'm hoping to find a 10' wide roll-up door with the thin sections (about 3" each) like I have at work. It will keep my overhead area in the middle of the shop as open as possible. I think I will be doing 9' walls with an "stepped rafter" design, that will give me over 11' in the middle open area which is the standard height for a decent 2 post lift, in case I ever decide I need one.

if you go with a roll up door & the opening is 8' you need at least a foot overhead for the door to roll up inside its self.

Thats what I'm thinking, with 9' walls I can do an 8' high door and still have the rollup.

Good luck with your building project htchbck. There is a thread entitled "Our Garages" on the forum to keep your blood perking. Thats were I posted the following pictures. I built these two building at the ranch ( one is 24 x 30, the other 30 x 60) just before I got my first festiva, Cirra 1991 ?? They were a financial stretch at the time but Ive never regretted having them. I included a pit in the smaller building for oil changes and such. I built them almost entirely by myself except some help from my friend "Jonsey" pictured below.
