Well that's one hell of a different approach to a cable/hydro conversion, I hope it works out well for ya

That is incredible, I'll be using this thread for my upcoming build hopefully. Would you recommend doing the mounts like you did, I won't be using a jackshaft so I think that will eliminate the alternator problems you had. You have OCD, skills and funding, the recipe for an amazing car.Owner of:

In progress:
BP+G25MR swap, Kia rio axles hopefully.

Marcus I'm loving every bit of this build, I just read through the entire thing! Getting ready for a couple BP/G25MR builds myself using Escort transmissions. I've done one in the past with a Capri trans, and it was waaay easier to mod the halfshaft. Not looking forward to dealing with the XR2 bracket being tilted like yours was, but at least now I can see it coming and it won't hit me in the face halfway through the process! I'm hoping I can come up with some sort of hybrid though, maybe using the Escort bracket instead of the XR2 one, if the bearings are the same size or if I can find a bearing with the right ID/OD to make it work. Because of length it will still need to be modded some, but hopefully at least it would sit flat like its supposed to. We shall see though! Keep up the good work and keep posting pictures, I must say I'm impressed with the ingenuity of your cable-mah-jigger there! I have a feeling I'll end up just having the MC on the firewall in these, but yours is certainly visually striking! No festiva for me ATM...

I think Im getting close to a start up. Just need to get the clutch thing worked out. The car sits really high. My front axles are slanting down like this. /\ What do you think about these cut Civic springs ? The car sits 23 1/2" to the red line on the bumper in the rear. Stock it sits at 20 1/2"". Of course Ive got 14" tire on instead of 12". The cut civic springs have two coils removed and are about 4" short then the stock festiva springs. I know zero about lowing a car. Tell me if I should go another route please.

I think you need some RIO strut assemblies with a coil and a half cut off complete with ball bearing strut hats

Cause its a poor mans power steering, also the struts and springs and rubber bushings are all newer, and generally only require compressing the spring enough to cut a coil or two and bolts in. They use a ball bearing top mount vs the solid rubber stock mount, and it makes a huge difference in handling. I can(could before I removed the engine) turn in parking lots at 1-10mph speeds with one finger on the wheel.2008 Kia Rio- new beater
