Take your big needle nose vise grips and put a shock rubber on each needle.
Lock it like a wedge between the timing gears before removing the belt.

I own IR too but do not like them! except an old reactionless air wratchet
    love that!

Looking good Fresh. As long as the little mark on the crank timing gear is at its indicator (which is at 12 o'clock) and the cam gear are at the I and E marks at 12 it should be good. I always put the exhaust side on first and hold it while turning the intake cam to its proper tooth. Makes sure you can turn it over twice and everything lines back up to 12 o'clock at the same time.

You don't disappoint Fresh. Looking great!

Only one I've ever owned. Have used Snap-On, pathetic ergo, and too heavy compared to the Titanium.

The mark isn't on the face of the gear, it is on the flat piece that is on the backside of the gear. There should be a semi circle indent into it. Can't see it with the belt on till you rotate it and it lines up with the mark on the block. It should be right above the square thingy that keeps the gear from slipping on the crankshaft.

I stuck a couple of 10 mm sockets on the two bold heads between the cam sprocket spokes to hold it in place while I put the belt on.

Pressure washed the engine bay today. Need to touch up the paint in a couple of small spots and it will be as clean as I can get it.

Thanks, dont tell the revenuers, its the code of the hills. !

The cooling plumbing from the festiva fits the escort block great. The bracket holes are off just a little but I'll fab up a solution for that.
