You do know the EGT trans is hydro clutch right? and that the capri int. shaft hanger bearing bracket is not a direct bolt up to the BP as well right? the bolt holes are roughly 1 inch offset,
How do you fix this ? The bracket is made of cast, cant weld additional metal on to it No room in the back to bolt a plate to it. Im stumped !!

You can weld to cast. I had an old timer tell me to "ping" the metal while it cools and it won't crack. He told me to use a shlag hammer and use the point. Hit it as your welding until its cooled. I welded my old turbo setup and it stayed together and it is in TominMo's possesion. I welded nuts onto my bracket where they needed to be. Here's what it looks like. And I think its pretty solid seeing what my car has done. Some people will argue this. This was done with a 15 yr old gas\wire feed 110v welder.
I ened up tapping my cast and putting a plate of 3/8 tool steel on the outside with holes to match the block. My bracket wont sit flat on the block it hits the block on the bottom and is about 1" away at the top. Need to make some better spacers for the top bolts.

I have the cable G-series tranny bolted to my BP and I did the same thing as this, but when I bolted it up to the motor it started to bind the shaft. I had to add a couple of washers behind the bracket to pull it away from the motor to prevent the binding. I think I put more washers behind the top bolt then behind the bottom 2.

wow what a mess, I think I'm about to go thru the same crap, thanks for posting all these ideas guys. I have a capri xr2 axel, with the capri cable G series going on a BP...never registered there was a difference in the eGT/capri axels.
^ I may be able to remove some material from the back of my midshaft bracket and get it to rotate to be flush with the block. Id be comfortable with that arrangement. I tried my other shaft and its the same as the other.

The differences are in the tranny's, the EGT trans "clocks" the engine differently then the cable Capri trans, which is probably the reason why the int. shaft won't sit flush against the block

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
Here is a better pic of my gap. It wont move away from the block without damaging something. I might try my other shaft to see if its different.

Looks like some welding is gonna be needed. What are your plans with it?
I'd cut the whole end of that bracket off, and have someone weld a piece in between, to "clock" the angle of the bracket to the right angle and fit.
Do you know someone that can do?

Here's a standing offer to Marcus.
I have key access to our shop. We could bump the 3/8 plate to the proper angle, mill off any extra metal on the original bracket, and get some kinda weld seam between the plate and gussetts on the original bracket.
It's 90 minutes each way to St. Joe. If you had a bare Egt block, that would be helpful. Just some thoughts..I'll pm you my phone #.
