He drove it to the Mini-Meet in Hermann...even though it was still misfiring some. He can power through it!

Perhaps, but I just had a "moment" ....

I have it nailed down to the carb. I think the float is sticking.
There is nothing else it could be. I have been through everything else and all checked good. Replaced and/or swapped all ign. parts, and still there. That all seemed to help, but it still missed.
I played with it the other night and found that if I open the choke ALL the way, it quits missing.
Drove it to the Herman, mo. meet last weekend, and it ran good enough on the highway, but was dumping a lot of gas, could smell it if you ran behind me, as John (pu241) did.
He said he thought he could turn off his car and it would still run from the fumes from my car. :p

I'll tear into the carb and see whats up with it.

Sounds like it's time for a break man, I get that frustrated too, breaking helps a little, the hard part is getting back into it. Just sit on it for a day or two and see what happens.

    What are all the symptoms?

Of course if your really that mad, I'll give you 20 bucks for it! :p

Maybe i'll just drive it off a cliff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FTS!!!!

    Anybody wanna buy this POS?
Part of my frustration is I came home to a flooded house last night after working a long shift.
The hook up to the toilet tank has a plastic screw on connection, which for some reason decided to break on its own and flood half my house. Sheeesh, it looked like a downpour in my basement.

Nothing like cleaning a mess like that at 3 in the morning.

Well, I think I found out what it is. Sometimes it's the simple stuff that will get ya!

First, swapped disty...no change, still missing, So then I pulled wires and installed rotor and cap...no change. Only thing left was coil, swapped coil...no change

So got to messing with the carb, reved it up by hand to where it was missing, then stuck my finger in the carb butterfles and opened them up all the way...and it quit missing!!!! Finally a change! So at least I know its not elec. or an internal issue with the motor. Phewww!

Some tuning and adjusting on the carb should fix it.

I adjusted the choke, and it helped, but I gotta get back inside the carb, and change up some jetting.

I think I have already been there.... :p

I'll report back, when I swap stuff....one thing at a time...to see if it cures, and what it was. I almost hope it is the disty, because it has a warranty.

    Freebie!!!!

Smooth as silk at idle. Only spits when given gas. It appears to be random misfiring. I am thinking elec components...coil, disty, or similar?

I have spare coil, and disty. Swap stuff time.

I pulled the plugs wires individually, to see if I had spark on all the wires/cylinders. Good spark on all 4.

I used propane to see if vacuum was an issue. It didnt smooth out like I read it would, if there was a leak, but around the vacuum ports on the rear driver side of the intake, it looked like it blew smoke out around where I had the propane nozzle pointed??? Weird?

Okay, I changed out the wire....no luck, still missing

I did notice the diff in length and readings. The new one I put together from a length of Taylor wire I had, read the highest .833

Also, when testing wires, there is a change in resistance per the length of the wire. Remember that if you test any other sets.
