the gt2860r is also known as a gt28r. It is standard on several Nissan cars, but nothing that was sold in the U.S. market. It's the stock turbo on an Sr20Det.
The turbine housing was machined by Corksport over a decade ago. I may tool up to perform this modification to IHI turbine housings depending on how this works out. I think I can even improve upon their work and I can also try it on a vj11 turbine housing. The gt2860 exhaust wheel is quite a bit larger than the rhb5 wheel, and thus requires quite a bit of machine work. The compressor is comparable to a Vj20, but with a more modern impeller design and a dual ball bearing cartridge. Corksport used a 60 trim t3 that had a ball bearing center section on their "kit" for the b6t. The corksport turbo was said to spool slightly quicker than the vj14 and also pull past 7500rpm. The gt2860 is a more properly sized turbo for the b6 engine. It should be fun.

So this must be what it's like to have a real job and have money to do a proper car build. I also can't wait to see your new setup.

Finally a high hp b6t festiva.

Well if you are interested in a vj11 hot side I have one I don't need if you want something to mess with. I have wanted to put a BB turbo on my car but could never find any info on how to get one on there other than a ramhorn manifold.

You'll have to give me a taste of the gt28r at madness to keep me motivated (please!).

I was trying to get this engine built before madness, but it's not going to happen, been swamped at work and this heat is not helping my motivation. It'll probably go in a couple of months after I get back from N.C. Tweaks current engine still runs great, and it'll be going into another Festiva when I pull it out. It'll be an automatic B6t.

I have a few of them here too, but hold onto that housing because if I do start machining these then you'll need that. I was going to make my own header, but I prefer a stock appearance and the stock manifold is hard to beat (other than the cracking, but a better flowing turbine and DP should remedy that).

Or, you could put the turbo in the back FL style.

My stock manifold has a couple big cracks. That was the only reason I was thinking ramhorn but it is just out of the price range. I'll just have to find some good cast welding rods and do some research on how to weld cast. I can't wait to see what your engine is going to come out like.

You use nickle rod on castiron, preheat the manifold as hot as possible before welding & let cool buried in sand or perlite for best results. Welding old cast that's been run for years can still be a bit of a crapshoot though, the iron picks up carbon from the exhaust and changes the chemistry

Charlie, the build looks great! Can't wait to see it all come together. Which car gets the ITB's? Working on finding/making an injector port stepdrill right now

I've had good luck with inconel rod on cast iron. Like Matt said, get it as hot as you can. If you don't have a suitable oven then use oxy acetylene torch and heat the manifold evenly. You can also use your oven to cool the part slowly if you don't have enough sand nearby. I have a couple of cracked B6t manifolds that I've been meaning to try to fix. I was also planning on trying to adapt a t25 flange to one as well as a flange for external wastegate.

Matt, been meaning to call you on that. Plans changed on the b6t build, but now I want the ITB setup for a bp. Can you trade the B6t adapter for a bp one? If not I'll probably put that manifold on a Miata with MS. Things changed when I was able to get that Euro manifold. I may be able to get you a step drill. Let me make some calls.
